Has anyone here got a super knock code ? I got one for cylinder # 2. Plugs were only 6 weeks old. Swapped those since it was the last thing changed when code appeared. At the same time I decided to swap coils just in case. All was fine for a couple weeks until tonight. Same code, same cylinder. A little about the car. 08 E93. 590whp, under 80k on original motor. Meticulously maintained by me. I mean not a drip of oil or anything anywhere. Fresh index 12 (when they were cheaper from fcp), I say fresh because they have maybe 2 k miles on them. Fresh plugs NGK, Coils, pi injectors (swapped from 550 to 750), threw code with the 550 and now with the 750s (so thats not the issue) Full E85, Stg 3 lpfp, pi, etc. Car has been fine even when on index 9. This just recently started. Car wont throw the code everytime, its random and has only thrown the code after 6k rpm. So, has anyone experienced this ? What was the fix ? I read plugs fixed it for a couple people but I already did that and coils so Im thinking maybe index 12 issue ??

Btw, no other codes, no limp mode, no cel. Valves are clean, walnut blasted around 5 k ago and with pi they are clean still. Dual oil catch cans, high and low side, rb pcv, O2s changed about 3k ago. I would blame the fuel but its only cyl #2. In my logs bank 1 starts to go lean, car sputters and I let off the gas. Check codes and I get 30EE. Now, I have also got this code and absolutley nothing showing on the log as a concern or any sputtering or miss. So I dont get it. I normally drive the car at 25psi. So thats when I have got the code. But with the same fuel in tank, swapped plugs and coils, and 27 psi pulls with zero issues or codes. So that makes me believe its NOT fuel either. So what are the chances on index 12 being the problem ?

Let’s get some data to review together to see if we can help you:
1. What is the super knock code, exactly, and how are you measuring it?
2. Provide logs of when it occurs.
3. What is the E% of your “E85” Fuel? Did it change? (E85 in cold climates like PA actually have more gas - lower E% - in the winter months ).

I had it once. It wasn't my injectors though, just a piston that cracked completely in half. So I'd just ignore it and keep trying to recreate it. #sendit

I have a csv log but as I said. I have a log showing it starts going lean 14:1 like its about to misfire but doesnt. Then I have a log last month when it happened, but it did not go lean at all so that log is useless. My tuner looked at it as well and saw nothing. I just filled up and will test actual e content. But i doubt its fuel because if it were, why only cylinder #2 ??? Also, why wouldnt it gwt worse at 27 psi if it were fuel ? When I thought i fixed the problem I did 27 psi pulls wirh no issues. Now back at 25 for a couple weeks and it threw the code. From what I have read is, it mostly occurs when high load, low rpm situations happen. Like climbing a hill in 5th at 2k rpm. I dont drive like that and it happens on top end of 3rd gear pulls. Car has NOT gone into limp because of it and from what Ive read, it wont. Which is even scarier.

This is whwn it happened tonight. Hpfp did dip, but when it happened last month fuel pressure was fine. I need to find the log. As I said, always cyl #2

Oh, I wasn't kidding. Although, I guess it was kind of funny to watch the #6 piston move up and down.... With half of it moving independently of the other half.

I thought u were being a smart ass ! Anyways, I dont believe I can hit 27 psi, 600whp, pretty clean log , with a cracked piston. So im trying to figure this out before it does happen !! lmao.

I'd probably agree, although my car ran with it (I actually drove it for close to 1,000 miles like that), it didn't exactly run well.

Yeah, no smoking, no issues whatsoever, shits driving me crazy. What sucks is after every change, you have to go WOT or you wont know if its fixed or not :smh:
Its not like others where it happens at low rpm and they get a limp mode or half engine light etc. My code gets stored as shadow code. Inactive.

Super knock code means there's knock the DME can't correct for by pulling timing.

The log doesn't really make sense though timing for cyl 2 looks decent with around -2 correction but 5 has huge timing pull

Jyamona, please explain. Im about to order an injector and dont want to replace #2 if the problem is with #5. Also, i need to find my other log but I have one with timing almost perfect and still got the damn code. Also note in the log posted, afr starts going lean in bank 1, not 2 which would make sence to trigger a code for cyl #2. Im lost with this one

Thats where all the confusion is. It just doesnt make any damn sence. My buddys car has similar mods. Almost identical. His logs show timing at 0 for most of his 3rd gear pulls for cyl 2, 4, and 5. Yet he has no codes. But thats another issue. I need to figure out mine but makes no sense.

Based off of this: "The log doesn't really make sense though timing for cyl 2 looks decent with around -2 correction but 5 has huge timing pull ". Also, this is the second time I've seen the car throw a super knock code for a "clean" looking cyl while there was a logged cyl with huge corrections. Perhaps it is unrelated, and truly is a cyl 2 issue. Install the new injector in cyl 2, if the problem comes back then try swapping it to 5.

The very first 30EE I found was between the 1st and the 6th of December. These are all the logs between those dates. I dont see a cyl #2 super knock. After I caught the shadow code, I have been checking codes after every single pull so I can catch it in a log. It does not throw a limp or CEL so its the only way to do it. What a fuckn nuisance.
