There are several parts which have an alternate, cheaper part number. This is the reason these 'secret' or 'alternate' part numbers exist according to FCP Euro:

This reduces the cost the dealerships need to inherit for warranty work on a common failure item until reimbursement from BMW. The separate numbers are also established to artificially decrease the reported failure rate. One part is to handle the warranty and recall claims (not reported) and the other is strictly for retail and regular service work (more profit).

I got the S63 from FCP. Given the price difference, the lifetime warranty seems worth it to me.

It seems that the retail remanufactured HPFP is: 13517616170 and the actual secret/alternate part number for that reman pump is: 13517616446 as stated. Because both of these pumps related to the remanufactured version, I've left the other HPFP line up there, because there may be an alternate part number for the brand new one. At this point however, all service centers may be instructed to install the reman pump.

Why didn't you create this thread 9mo ago? Cause I bought the 13517616170 for $400 instead of the 13517616446 for $350. I feel like my part number is: IMA-ID10T

$400 bucks is good, where did you pick that up? I'll change the link

ECS Tuning. But HPFP prices fluctuate enough that VTT even removed them from their website. They used to offer HPFP's when ordering a shotgun kit but I think they had to remove that option due to market fluctuation in pricing.

Some parts, like this one, are worth buying from FCPEuro given they have a lifetime warranty. I've used it before (returned an alternator 2 years later) ... they are easy going and no-sweat exchange. But that said, BMW dealers with a heavy discount, like BMW of Fairfax, will do 13517616446 for under $300 (with a core return, though). If your local dealer discounts, you may do better walking in.

Thx for the info, going to try the 13517616446 from FCPeuro, in the Netherlands i pay 667€ for a pump (13517616170) if i ship it from fcpeuro to the Netherlands i pay €377, looks like a great deal for me.

Lets start adding parts we would like to find the alternate part numbers for. I've added cam ledges to this list, they used to be cheap but now they are a pretty pricey part of rebuilding.

I think the common failure parts should be the priority. VANOS solenoids, water pump, coils.

One of the aluminum hose adapters to replace the plastic cooolant line connection at the block to the thermostat.
That is actually an aftermarket part if we're talking about the same thing. This should actually go into a new thread called 'common replacement items' or something like that. The aluminum power steering pulley and other things should also go into that thread.
We do have the N54 FAQ which covers some of those items I think.
