I noticed oil leaking from the connection fitting feed ontop. Its not bad atm but dont want to sit on it to getting worse. Is this something i can just take apart and redo?Anyone else had a PTE Gen 2 Turbo with same issue?

I am having the same issue. You can see my post is the last reply with no answer in the linked thread :(

When I first got the car running on the single set up, no leak at all. about 2-300 miles in I noticed it was wet, then at about 500 miles in, it was smoking pretty good.

At first I thought it was maybe my lowside PCV causing to much crank case pressure (at the time I had headports blocked with stock PCV in place lol) so I bought a pcv delete and now vent both hi and low side VTA..... turbo still leaking like a pig.

just ordered a oil restrictor from summit yesterday so we will see if that does the trick.

drain is an atp turbo 10an fitting to a 10an line, with a 10an fitting welded onto the stock return fitting. maybe we need 12an...idk

its interesting if you google leaking oil feed precision turbo, the only people I can find with the same issue as me are n54 cars....

Have any of you measured the pressure the turbo is seeing? It might be too much for the precision turbos, you would need to get the recommended specs from them. On my last car I had to create an oil pressure regulator setup because the pressure the turbo was seeing was way too high. This regulated it to 60psi, it was seeing 120psi and going thru a turbo a year. I got the idea from a book I read by Corky Bell. And while precision turbos seem to be popular, they were/are just knock off Garrets right? or has that changed.

Adjustable flow control valve.

My precision turbo has a built in oil restrictor. I thought all single turbo kits added this as our stock oil pressure is too high? Like the Gen one ACF with the comp turbo did not all come with the restrictor but once installed that solved the problems iirc. At least for a local guy.

How would I know if there's a restrictor installed, would it be just by removing the feed and look if there's a tiny hole instead of a 1/8" sized one?I have a 6062 gen 2 pte

Yes, you can see the restrictor. Just don't remove the feed into the turbo as it keeps the bearings in place and you will have to send to Precision for a full rebuild if you remove it. Either ACF adds this or perhaps Precision has this as standard? I only remember this popping up years ago on comp turbos with no restrictor.

I also have a gen 2 6266, once upon a time I emailed precision about running a restrictor. They stated a -4AN unrestricted feed should be used, and that the suggested oil pressure range is 15-115 psi. I read the oil pressure part and thought that whole email was a load of bull. lmao

Been running a 0.035" restrictor for 5k miles / 4 months and the turbo hasn't lunched itself yet. N54s and other engines with high oil pressure do benefit from a restrictor for ball bearing turbos only if you have oil consumption at high rpm / high load, and everything else checks out.

I dunno man, I have seen turbo rebuilders say that if the drain is larger enough, you can basically throw as much pressure into it as you want. But that doesn't make sense to me and it contradicts what BW, Mitsubishi, Holset, Garret, etc all say as they typically list max oil pressures in the 60-80psi range.

And your drain is -10 AN and that should be plenty. But be careful because the ID of -10 fittings can vary, some cheap ones are way off and often need to be drilled out.

anyone know whats the oil pressure going to a top mount single turbo?
My PTE 6062 gen 2 is about 2yrs old but only has about 2000miles on it since most of the driving happens in spring/summer only.Car is garaged and is clean underhood and underneath. Also have custom high/low catchcans with VTT valvecover breather so for crankcase pressure should be minimal.also i am using -10an drain line with 1/8'' oil line feed which is the same size on PTE turbo. To me it seems the quality these days are worse these days.

im handy on repairing but guess its not that easy to just unscrew that feed fitting so,what can that cost to fix that leak then?

I had this exact problem and had to send it in to PTE for complete CHRA rebuild.

How much do they charge to rebuild one of their ball bearing turbos?

Mine was covered under warranty so I don't have any pricing info on the oil feed in particular, however, FedEx hulk smashed my turbine in shipping and PTE only charged me $228 to repair that so that should give you a good idea. You can also call them and explain your situation and they might do you solid. They have been really easy to work with over the years.

Nice to know. My 6062 has about 25K on it now, and shows absolutely zero signs of leaking or slowing up, but just wanted to know for future reference.
