Selling a remanufactured upgraded torque converter from Transtar Industries - ZF authorized dealer. It has updated ZF clutch discs inside and replaced all spline/gears/o rings, seals. Six bolt unit. See pics. Less than 1 mile on from testing on my old tranny...which was traded in for an entire new tranny so I have no use for it except for backup if necessary.

Bingo. It is my understanding that these remanufactured units use the most up to date new parts and any older flawed designs were replaced - thus they are the "upgraded" versions. At least that is what the sales guy told me. If I were him, I would say, they are the "updated" versions instead of the "upgraded" versions.

Still, testing this unit out there was a very noticeable difference from my old worn out unit with 70k miles on it.

What difference did you notice with the converter? How "worn out" was your previous unit?

To compare the two units, I set them both on their hard center nubs with the open hole facing upwards.
Then I would use the center hard nubs as a pivot point and quickly sway the units as far left and right as possible.
On the original stock used unit, there were loud and hard klanging and banging of inside parts hitting each other, all loose like.
On the updated unit there was almost no sounds or looseness.

During the one mile test, I noticed tighter response, quicker response to acceleration input.
Felt like a car feels when you drive it off a lot brand new.

You absolutely must makensure you have a 6hp21 tranny. This not for 6hp19. The 6hp21 (zf nomenclature) is designated as 6hp19TU by BMW. (Technical update.)

Before pulling the trigger find out for sure that you have the 6hp21 with these bolts.

There is no refund if you err.

Correct, 6HP19Z, 6HP19TU, 6HP21, all depending on what literature you're reading. Different companies and texts and databases will refer to the transmission in different ways.
