Like it tore in half and the rubber piece is still on the plug?
I used thin long nosehead pliers to get it off and out.

I don't have them personally but I heavily considered them and spoke to PR about them a lot. My understanding is you lift up the "skirt" to help break suction, and then pull from the base (aka the part under the skirt, at the top of your plug cylinder)

Time for a new set of PR wires. ($70)
The new ones are an upgrade over the old ones. Make sure to put dielectric grease (a.k.a., silicone grease) between the rubber boot and ceramic insulator of the plug.

I had this happen to me with their original wires. The new ones seem much better. Contact them and they will work with you to get you a replacement wire or set.

New wires fit much better.

I did have an issue with several of my wires being pulled through improperly by the factory, meaning that they had to really be shoved in for the plug to clip on. This resulted in the plug and wire popping off, which is not good.

Sent photo proof and got new wires, no more problems.
