Why did you choose Öhlins over KW Clubsport 3-way for example? Was it a budget question?

Awesome build!

What is an RRT-baffled oil pan, and any data to prove if it works?

RRT (formerly Road Racing Technologies) in Sterling, VA fabricated two baffled oil pans way back when. I got one; the other went to VAC and was the prototype for the baffled oil pan that they now sell for the N54.

I'm only just now adding an oil pressure sensor to my AiM datalogger so don't have before/after data.

Just have a lot more experience with Ohlins (and friends that custom valve them). Having previously run Konis, ASTs, and JRZs, I opted for Ohlins because of their great reputation and build quality. I haven't been disappointed!

I did the same mistake, so I also have no before-after data. But it seems that a baffle helps to keep up oil pressure up during braking. Other than that it doesn't seem to work. Expect to be disappointed especially if your track includes any left hand hairpins which require trail-braking. Right hand turns shouldn't be a problem with or without baffle.

Im currently looking into how to enlarge the sump. Others have opted for an accusump. No matter what, I have concluded it is not possible to make a semi-dry oil sump with external electrical oil pump that works. This seems to be because you can't really get an oil pump that pumps anywhere near what is required to keep up with the engine oil pump.

I was at Manthey Racing to setup my Öhlins Road and Track and had a discussion about suspension and they said "its a nice street suspension but if we are talking track cars you need clubsport which is way above the Öhlins"

I am completely happy with my Öhlins but was wondering if it is actually true what they are saying. My suspension is stock for the e92 335 out of the box though.

Come on man, post up some killer pics!
Jealous of your motor. How are temps with a closed deck block? I hear water and oil go up with closed deck.
What kind of power do you have your car set to, and at what boost? I didn't see anything about PI or overdriven HPFP, so I'm guessing sub-530whp?

Couldn't find anything on the RRT baffled pan -- is that just a baffle welded into the stock pan like BimmerWorld & VAC sells?

Surprised you were able to use the HARD Motorsport chassis mount splitter brackets for anything. I found them to be so thin and flimsy and just ended up going custom mounted to the subframe instead.

Awesome build -- excited to see some footage and data from you.

All in good time! We're still tuning car (for 93 pump) and my first track event is this weekend. Shortly afterwards, we'll be adding MHD Flex Fuel.

To-date, I've only run the car on the street. Water temps have been fine -- never exceeding the DME-set amounts -- and I'm hoping for same on track given the additional cooling capacity, reduced under hood temps from venting/cerakoting, and ducting.

I do have port injection, but we're using it primarily to reduce light throttle surging caused by the ported head.

I'm figuring we'll see something like 530 whp at 23-24 psi on 93 pump (good guess, BTW!) and maybe 60-70 more with an ethanol mix. As a road course guy, I'm way more concerned about the area under the curve than peak numbers. With my current set-up, I'm seeing 20 psi around 3,000 rpm.

Yes, baffles were added to a stock oil pan, and I'm planning to revise my splitter mounts as I've also found that the HARD brackets aren't optimal.

Loads of pix on my personal FB page and on FB page OneLap1M.

All for now, but stay tuned!

Just stopping in here to say hi! Thanks to Neil for entrusting me to pilot his unique 1M and help with the suspension development.

As he noted, please like and follow the OneLap1M Facebook page (http://www.fb.com/OneLap1M) for updates. You can also follow my Drive Faster Now YouTube page and watch the OneLap1M playlist.

I'm looking forward to shaking the car down this weekend at Summit Point!

What's your front alignment like? Can see the plates are set for minimal caster (clearance issue?) in turn reducing your max neg camber achievable?
Do you still use the ducts by the intercooler for brake cooling in addition to the lip?

3 degrees camber, 0 toe. Good eyes -- camber plates were installed backwards, that since been corrected so I can run max caster!

Only running brake cooling from inlets on either side of intercooler.
