Haha I know you will be, if you're ever close to the Michigan area it would be fun to hit up a track together. Side by side 10 second N54's would make an awesome video.

Yeah all self-tuned, I'm a calibration engineer in the auto-industry so it comes natural. It is sort-of "flash only" but I don't use the boostbox as I saw some odd electrical things on my car when using it - so I use the Turbosmart eBoost Street ebc. I really like having quick adjustability of boost pressure, but I might try going back to Boostbox once they get on-the-fly load target changes going. The eBoost has a nice "gate pressure" option, which will hold the solenoid at 100% DC until gate pressure is reached which unless you're very good with JB4 boost PID tuning (idk if that's even an option) you won't get with normal PID control. I definitely think that's helping me get more boost, and the added weight of my E90 vs your E82 helps put more load on the engine, making more boost.

But thanks man! It took me way longer than a professional would have, and I know it's not an "optimal flow path" or anything, but it seems to work for what I need it to do!.

For sure! I don't ever make it out that way, but I'll be at NFZ Midwest in Rantoul, IL. You should come out!

I've heard of that SpeedFest event, maybe I'll try to make it to that next year?

@suspenceful @noorj don't you two get too comfortable now. I'm coming for you guys . Glad seeing more 10's though!

You don't by chance work at Denso do you?

The more competition the better! Keeps pushing the platform forward. I actually work for MAHLE Powertrain, we're the research & development branch of MAHLE (the piston company) where we do performance & emissions calibration, development and testing for MAHLE and various OEM's/Teir 1's/research groups

Love this project!
Excellent results! Congrats.

Thanks guys! @doublespaces think I can get that 10second club title now? :)

When is that? I was trying to make one more half mile event this year but our schedule is already packed. I definitely recommend BCSF though, it's much different from most events because it's integrated into an airshow so you do get less runs than other events. But having some down time when the airshow is running to hang out/talk with other guys and watch the airshow makes it alot of fun.

After I got it up and running well, got the calibration ironed out, I rented a local dyno for some dialing-in and numbers and ended up putting down 708whp (STD correct) on 30psi. I have cal'd it as high as 33psi, but I couldn't get enough load on the dyno to reach that boost so 30psi was as high as the controller would let me go. Overall was very happy with the numbers, and got some good data on ignition timing/VANOS adjustments for the manifold. (Also got some cool pictures shooting flames)

Good stuff!
How much spool / power did you pick up playing with Vanos?

Spool was minimal because the dyno doesn’t load it as much as the street but about 250rpm spool with going more advance with less overlap than the common vanos settings. It did pick up about 12hp with 124int cam at peak power vs 118. Was also only making 6hp/degree at 10deg spark so it’s nice to know it’s close enough to MBT with creating unnecessary cylinder pressure
