Only real reason to go away from DI is to stuff bigger valves in it. Or perhaps put a pressure sensor in there? lol Is it possible to install N55 injectors in an N54 head? I, for one, have no idea. Seems like it might be possible on the injector driver side?

It's possible however the head needs to be machined to accept the N55 injector. IIRC it was Motiv/Overrev Fab that did it years ago, using a Motec M142 to control it. Can't remember if they also switched the HPFP as well.

I did just pre-order the kit. My car is out of service since september, because two out of 6 brand new Index 12 injectors failed and one took also cyl 4 with it, it stuck open...
Kit is fairly priced in my opinion (1200$), don't want to deal with that DI mess ever again.

When an injector sticks open, what causes the fuel to flow from the tank to the cylinder? is it pressure in the tank or pressure in the fuel feed line?

It comes down to combustion chamber and Quench. Look at Coyote, There 11.0:1 and 2018+ 12.0:1 and can run some decent boost through stock components. Also N54 is 10.2:1 I thought it was higher myself. Alot of factors for sure to consider. On E is vastly different than 91/93
This is absolutely correct, DI allows very precise injection of fuel when it’s required, which allows the use of high compression ratios with turbo charging . In PI the fuel is injected way before TDC which allows it time to hang out in the cylinder and cause deterioration because as is known fuel has to be present for pre ignition to occur, be sure your tuner is very capable as PI and high compression ratios will result in very high levels of deterioration.

Yeah. While tuning 6 port injectors is theoretically easier than tuning a combination of 6 port injectors and 6 direct injectors, I think tuning will be more critical than ever. Anyone planning to rock this kit should plan to be extra careful with who they choose to tune their car, especially in the early days of this di delete solution.

I'll stay di only until the dust settles on this one.
