I’ve ordered the Nexsys B58 plug upgrade with Eldor plugs.

I’m running a MHD Stage 2 map on 98 Ron..Had a misfire on 2+ which didn’t re-appear on stage 2..I know a log should be done…

Currently new NGK coils and one stage cooler plugs on stock gap.

My questions are..

With B58 coils fitted on a stage 2 /2+ a stock gap is ok?

When I fit the the TTE500s after the holidays…

Should I use the same plugs?

What‘s the gap strategy assuming a custom tune and the B58 coils?

Apologies for these bambino questions…🙈

Hello yes they are on 30 thou gaps…
That might be the cause of your misfire. Most people gap them down to between 0.018 and 0.022. Those plugs aren't intended for the N54 so you need to gap them before installing.

Noted thanks..so given the higher energy B58 coils would you not gap down to say 25 thou?

Or is it the fact that the high energy coils can light a good fire via 22 thou even on low rpm settings?

I'm not really up to speed on coil upgrades. Stronger coils will probably help but I don't think anyone runs a gap like that even with upgraded coils.

Although I wouldn't expect the TTE500 turbos to be pushing the limits of the stock coils. I know it's nice to have upgraded components but having seen all the threads about aftermarket coil packs catching fire due to the way they contact the plug I'd be wary of adding more complexity unless it was required.

Hopefully the nexsys will hold up..looks a lot better engineered than others..I’ll keep a fire extinguisher handy 🙈
