I tried to read all 26 pages of this thread, but was it mentioned if a low pressure (in-tank) pump of a certain size is required to use the Helix?

I have a Fuel-it Stage 2 (450lph?). Good enough with the Helix for 550whp?

I’m not sure on E85, but you’re close especially with gasoline. Others on this forum will know better. I also have a Fuel It Stage 2 450 Walbro mainly to run E50ish / FlexFuel with stock turbos so I’m probably around 400 AWHP.

Ekp may be another issue though as you are gonna push that pump harder and I believe a 450 can pull 23 amps and our ekp really us only comfortable eighth 18 some are ok with 20 some aren't.
Yes stage 2 should support that no prob I believe stage 2 is good for 600 to 650 and that's supporting pi

Your low pressure pump will have to provide enough fuel for the horsepower level you are making..

I had the EKP shut the car off in the summer on a hot day. Restarted about 15 minutes later and I've never had an issue since then. EKP low voltage faults were stored but I also had a bad alternator at that point that spiked to 19v. Considered it a result of the alternator spike (since have changed the alternator and no high voltage spikes, and EKP hasn't shut down).

I had an 8 year-old EKP3 in my e90, started giving idrive warnings within an hour of the stage 2 lpfp install, then after applying the voltage fix it started stalling out. Installed the BPM4 the next day, but I believe people will just replace the EKP with a new one until it starts to fail. Wouldn't try that with the walbro 525 though, should draw even more current than the 450.

Anyone know off hand the whp limits (approximately) of the different walbro units on 100% E85?

Not exactly, since so much depends on changes to your venturi, removing the bucket, changing the FPR, etc. Radium has a decent writeup on the pumps themselves you might find informative, thought I saw another after the 525 came out but not seeing it atm: http://www.radiumauto.com/Blog/Post/Radium-Engineering-s-Ultimate-Fuel-Pump-Test-73

edit: here: http://www.radiumauto.com/Blog/Post/Testing-the-TI-Automotive-Walbro-F90000285-Fuel-Pump-109

According to PR, their stage 2 is 600whp and stage 3 is 900, though I'm not sure if that's full e85 or not, their replacement regulator assembly, or other changes. (but I've seen a 580+ dyno on a fuel-it stage 2 lpfp with 100% e85, so maybe). http://www.precisionraceworks.com/index.php?route=product/product&path=20_59&product_id=71

Are you n54 or n55? What coil packs are you running?

N55, running Precision Raceworks coil setup on N20 plugs at .020. I don't have any spark blow out, and much better idle than when I had the 95770's.

Interesting. I was getting the red battery symbol due to alternator not charging the battery after installing Delphi coilpacks. At the time I didn't think it was linked to the coil packs. It would happen intermittently. Then I went to a half mile even in Arizona and it was hot, 95 plus degrees. And on one of the last runs of the day my car shut off and went bezerk: https://youtu.be/yzzqLM2AIuY

Log showed a big voltage spike of around 19ish volts, AFR went lean, car wouldn't restart. After 20 min she started right up. I would get the red battery after that event intermittently. Then in a different forum the voltage spike was linked to coil packs, in this case Delphis. So I removed mine and went back to my old stock plugs with 40K on them and no more issues.

But I wonder if my EKP got hot due to the hot weather and stage 2 pump during that pull and that is the reason the car shut off and my afr went to really lean. I guess I will have to keep an eye on it. Thanks for the follow up information.

You're not alone, I researched FOREVER about my voltage spike and came across more than one Delphi coil thread that caused BSD issues leading to alternator overcharging, etc. I'm the only one with PR coils this has happened to, that I can see - so I'm not blaming the coils yet. I haven't had an overvoltage incident since then, but what I have had is UNDERVOLTAGE. Occasionally after a hard couple of pulls my voltage will drop to 11.6 and stay there until I restart the car - then it immediately goes back to 14v. PM me if you have any thoughts - I don't want to derail this thread any further :)

Sounds like my original question has been answered - my goal of 525whp on 100% E85 and a PS2 should be no problem for my Stage 2 450 pump and a Helix overdrive unit.

Not sure if I shared this before, but this is the difference between the beta overdrive on the left, one that a certain someone was trying to sell as a production unit on instagram and also the same one people were leaking specs about, meanwhile none of the tuning was done and the unit on the right was just beginning to be tested. So really, all those things people were 'leaking' weren't even accurate, yet a lot of conclusions were drawn based on that info. This is why people were asked to hold tight and not make any assumptions, because frankly none of the info circulating at the time was even representative of what would be sold. These are both 3x:

This is my personal HPFP graveyard. You can get an idea how many times someone told me my HPFP was bad and they were wrong:

Anyone heard if there is a solution to the Helix OD startup rattle? Been reported by many on the Facebook N54/N55 tuner goup - some say it goes away with the blip of the gas, others say it lasts a minute or so and sounds like your engine is broken.....

I've proposed a solution a while back and it is being looked into. I think it can be tuned out, the rail pressure on startup needs to be reduced. Instead of 2500 having it reach around 1000-1500 or so should probably fix the problem. At idle it only asks for 700.

Would it help anyone understand/find tables if they had the 7000 page Functional Description document for the N55 MEVD17?
