Does anyone know if the N54 water pump can be run straight off a 12V power supply? Or it must have a PWM signal to operate?
Reason: I’m building an N54 and I want to simulate getting the engine up to operating temp to retorque the head studs, before I even install the camshafts. I’m going to circulate boiling hot water through the coolant passages in the engine and want to use the stock water pump to do it. The water will be boiling away in a big pot on a camp stove - the pump will pull it out of the pot and push it through the engine, dumping it back in the pot. I know it won’t be exactly the same as bringing an engine up to operating temp.
