I'm helping out on a mates engine build, he has been collecting all new parts down to the last bolt.

A closed deck block with a vac stage 3 head and schrick high lift cams.

Going to be doing some pics along the way.

Bottom end is almost done with a nice billet crank, carrillo rods and cp pistons.

Its going to run a double barrel and pi

Plazmaman manifold with our monster IC with custom 3inch piping.

More details to come with more pics

Who made the crank? Haven’t seen billet ones for the N54 yet. Is that a Motiv block?

Sounds like my exact setup minus the crank. I looked at the billet crank but for almost 7 grand I opted out seeing I never heard of any problem with stock crank. Although the knife edge crank throws on the billet might help with more rpm's. Good luck with your build!

7,000 for a billet crank? Ya'll need to shop around. Remember this is N54 - Alibaba has billet cranks for the N54 for $1,700! I'm sure a vendor will eventually start offering them for only $4,000 and still undercut PPM, lol.

Dude there is no way in hell I trust an alibaba crank with such an expensive build, I have ppm rods and pistons in my own motor and they are perfect in everyway.

The only reason we didn't use them in this build as tits a six month wait to get them made at the time, there has been a number of motors built with their products here and there
has been no failures to date.

if you like to talk about it start another thread as this is a build thread.

That crank is a beaut. Do they start with a cylindrical forging, or machine an oem crank to their final specs?

The crank is f1 polished, when the crank was dropped in the clearances where absolutely perfect, nothing needed to be done.

The whole block was vapour blasted inside and out and looks like a brand new block, more pics coming

Lol sorry guys, I guess my sarcasm didn't come across well in text. I just thought it was funny that they even offer a billet crank for the N54.

We did the measurements on the billet crank and its perfection. Lifting it compared with stock is lighter but we didn't do a weight comparison. Too lazy.
I thought about selling it a while back but the engine builder said no way, hombre. Crank was sitting in storage for almost 2 years while we got the RHD ST kits sorted. With the VAC coated bearings everything just dropped into the Motiv block.

I supplied the 6 Bolt stock crank originally for PPM to develop so struck a deal on the final product. They only make the cranks in batches and most went to Europe and the Middle East. $7500 AUD is only $5100 USD for those price skeptics, but if you hope to see these for 4k in Aussie dollars...you're dreamin'.

Left the stage 3 VAC head alone due to potential high boost over further porting of the JD75 super high flowing version developed here in Sydney.
Opted for the hi-lift Schricks but probably would have been happy with the low-lift versions.

All good, sometimes Aussie and US humour doesnt come across well thats why maybe there is a little heated discussions sometimes but all good.

The power level we are going for and insane boost we want to run nothing is left to chance.

Compared how much this build already cost, its a drop in the bucket.

I know no one has broken a crank yet but no one has really tried a billet crank either that we know off to see how it performs.

A crank yikes . I'd rather order spare OEM cranks or maybe cars for that price. If vtt doesn't do it I think we're safe.

It will cost you a lot more to replace a crank if you break one than this, i can guarantee you will never break billet one.
