Nice! Curious is K-Line flash times are cut down as well. Right now with a cable it takes a minute to flash a short write map change.

mine is cut down for all map flashes but I was using a BMS cable not a bimmergeeks, it was previously 2:30 for mhd map switch and 2:10 for xhp flash. Now 1:09 and 0:56 Each.

I am using an old ebay cable and it takes right around a minute for a mhd map switch. I think this is due to the car being k-line (early 07 build). It would be awesome if those times are cut in half. Either way going wireless is totally worth it.

Anyone tried connecting to http://192.168.4.1 (or whatever your gateway address may be but I assume it's going to be the same for everyone) through your phone or tablet and taking a look at the settings of the WiFi-serial bridge of this device? If you were driving down the road, it seems someone could easily connect and change the AP settings for this dongle if the network is left insecure and leave you without a working device.

Might be best to secure the device after you get it by changing the SSID and setting WPA2 encryption.

Can someone from MHD chime in on this? Since no instructions come with the device (after all, it does plug & play well), it seems concerning that the security of the device hasn't been talked about.

I am curious on this, if so I'll leave it plugged in with a passcode. But gotta remember, if you forget the passcode, etc theres no way to "hard reset" it if it has memory. And if it does shut off, with no memory you'll be resetting a new passcode each time. Basically like a router with no memory or reset button.

However, to answer the other question, others asked even left plugged in i can still monitor the car, etc and it does stay on, key out/off. I have not tried to see if it shuts off and goes to "sleep" yet when the car does though.

And my time dropped 11 seconds, 1m 7s for wifi and 1m 18s for bimmergeeks cable flashing a map. Its just nice not having the cable is the big advantage so far i noticed.

Has anyone tried this with multiple devices connected concurrently?

Would love if someone would take a battery reading with MHD before, leave their WiFi adapter plugged in overnight or over the weekend and take a new battery reading after it's been sitting and see how much it drew off.

Someone on FB confirmed that the adapter is still on with the car off, including the wifi AP. It'll probably take a while to drain it down, but if you let it sit for a couple weeks plugged in you'd probably need a jump.

you can connect to the adapter with multiple devices as ive done it just to test. but on one connection to the ecu. if you try connecting to the ecu while one device is connected, it freezes he other connection

Next MHD WiFi question - does it fit in the E89 slot? Stupid car design ... I had to grind down my Launch X431 BT adapter to fit in the hole.

Does the wireless adapter work on the pre March 07 cars? I’ve heard only wired works due to the frm1. I have a elm wireless adapter that I used with Carly often before ignoring it now and switching to ProTool, and it never worked when trying to code early 07 cars.

Light stays lit and connection shows available hours after car is off and locked.

unless your car is driven daily I doubt leaving it plugged in is a good idea

My N54 is an 07. And it works. Kline cars will not see an improvement

Again, left plugged in for weeks. No issue. But in guess if you're storing the car there is no need for it to be plugged in

Left the WiFi adapter plugged in all day as I’m driving around
2 issues

first ) 2ded check engine I’m assuming it’s from the adapter cause it never popped up before

second) logging quality sucks , the gauges freeze then go back to normal ever 3 second or less .
Anyone else have this issue ?

What device you running it on as I had cheap quality tablets have this issue even with cable

Have you tried using another device to check if it works better ?

2ded is an active code I get from leaving a cable in as well. So yeah I’d imagine it will pop for this.

haven’t had a freezing issue with my extremely cheap fire7 hd, logs normal for me

@mhd should have that code turned off for just this reason

i agree the 2ded is an issue and annoying I can easily modify that out of the hex binary. I will try another tablet
