I just hope this does not require a dedicated Wi-Fi connection, such as the WiFi borescopes. Those setups are cumbersome. But more so for people looking to do Android integrations ....

Won't need any kind of actual wifi connection, its just the medium for connection between adapter and device.

I don't understand what that means. Maybe I wasn't clear. A lot of stunt devices take an approach of setting up a Wifi connection (one connects with a comp/phone/tablet/whatever's Wifi to the device's SSID, which that device broadcasts once it is powered on) ... it's a dedicated connection, and ties up the Wifi antenna of the connecting device. Since most modern devices have only one physical Wifi antenna, that means any existing Wifi connection that device is on is dropped to connect to the dedicated device. I'm hoping THAT is not how this works.

Right. I have a regular obd adapter that does exactly this so I could run a monitor program on my iphone, since it doesnt like bluetooth.

The adapter puts out a wifi signal, no physical wifi connection is required to tether them.

I have no idea if this adapter will boot you off an existing network when using them in conjunction, I would never have a situation where that would be a problem for me as I use a dedicated device for monitoring/flashing and not my personal phone.

I'm sure MHD would need to answer your question fully, as i have no idea on all of it. But I know on my generic wifi obd adapter it would kick me off my house connection when trying to use it in the car, so i'd imagine that part is accurate.
