After successfully completing my DCT swap on MSD81 and pushing my unopened 199xxx mile n54 to 700hp on stock clutches. I did a 5.84 second 60-130 dragy time and had a lot of fun rolls on the street with all the stock bmw components.
I never got to post my 2 cents on what it took to swap the transmission in but I am still able to provide knowledge for anyone who needs help and can’t find the old “auto to dct swap” thread that helped me get to where I am today.
With that being said, the same car is now running maxxecu standalone ECU running ONLY port injection. My car is currently running a built N54 with DCT trans/M3 gws. I just recently got the car running after a year building the harness,fuel system and gathering parts. I learned a lot along the way and definitely still learning.
In that time pnp harnesses have been made for n54 to go with aftermarket ecu solutions. I have seen the rise of b58/s58 throughout my build but still feel happy and accomplished with my n54 that has been tucked / built and ready to take on some of the naysayers. N54 is still a capable little engine and mated with the dct it’s been a blast and worth every penny to me. I hope to contribute more as my knowledge has been expanded since my last post on here. Still learning but hope to build a newer gen car in the future.
