Probably the last update complete, car is basically done! Haven't driven it much since it needs an alignment but it rips for sure.

Not so easy is it lol.

Glad you got it running, people have no idea how much work is involved just to do a track car.

If you want it street registered and complied in OZ or euro countries, that is another issue as it brings a host of complications.

With ours we would pass the Californian draconian laws if needed be as they are lax compared to Aussie laws.

Yeah most of the work is just solving the gazillion small issues. Doing it again wouldn’t be too bad. The wiring is really the only part I don’t think the average shade tree person would be able to knock out easily, but I think I did it the hard way

I’m in NY and we’re just about as bad as California, but as long as the engine is newer/same as the chassis and all your emissions stuff is in place it’s fine. Things like exhaust sound level and stuff is not enforced.

I need to get the 135 VIN on the MSS60 still to pass inspection but after that I shouldn’t have an issue.

Yes engineer has to sign of in oz.

Some don't care but in the case of a fatality during an accident you'll be let's put it very bluntly fucked and going to jail with a tub of Vaseline

The engineer has to sign it off, it will have to pass brake, emissions, noise and suspension tests.

Crazy. In the US a lot of states have no inspection at all. There are a handful of states that mostly just care about emissions equipment, like NY. The safety part of the inspection is just to make sure the lights work, tires are not completely shot, etc.

Also, in most states accidents are now "no fault" so people aren't typically held liable and it's mostly up the insurance companies to sort out who's paying for what.

That's why you see a lot of clapped out cars in the USA, even dough I wish we could do anything to our cars like in the states I'm glad it's tough because we have no shitty cars on our roads ready to plough into our proud and joys.

Just got paid out by my insurance company for some shitty corolla side swiping my parents driving my Jeep srt.

Glad I had insurance but all it took is a split second and my mum is pretty f,ed up.

So much for Jeep safety it would have never happened in a bmw and I guess that's why we live, breathe and drive them.

Got the car weighed an aligned today. 3251 lbs with a half tank of gas. Not as light as I was hoping but not too bad at all I’d say. I wish I had a weight of it with the N55.

The difference is between 30 to 70 kg lower with the v8 than n54 depending what you had aftermarket wise on the n55, n54 is heavier with all the ancillaries bolted on so its closer to 70kg.

That's some weight reduction, just realized.

What did you remove the whole interior ?

Yeah, still has front carpets but that's about it. Sunroof is removed, headliner, all the airbags, most of the audio, all the excess wiring. Stock seats replaced with lightweight fixed back seats, H5 battery, AC delete, Xenons replaced with halogens, etc. All the sound deadening is still in place. I think overall it's about 200-250 lbs lighter than a stock DCT 135, and 450-500 lbs lighter than a DCT E92 M3.

I'd really like to get it to 3,000 lbs flat which I'm sure is possible, I just don't know if I'm willing to tear it up that much... yet.

did you ever try fitting the m3 fuel tank in the 135i ?

I was going to but there's no shot. The 3 series tank is significantly larger. The rear seat base is where most of the length difference is between the two cars. You can code the KOMBI to use the "E89" tank curve instead of the M3 so your gas gauge and range are correct.

Removing a tank must be a huge pain in the ass, you did it twice?
More than twice haha. It’s not bad once you have the exhaust and driveshaft out, which I had to take out anyway. But then I reassembled the whole car and decided I didn’t like how the rear brake lines were done so I pulled everything out and redid the rear lines without the chassis to subframe flex lines since it’s solid mounted.
