Is there something better than the Rixeffects AKA P3Cars boost gauge?

I have an AEM boost gauge and wideband gauge, both steering wheel mounted. They work great - it's the flimsy mounts which annoy me. I have the ATI pod and the gauges are secured by a thin and flimsy piece of plastic. The WB mount broke and I haven't been able to find a single replacement gauge (rather than a whole new pod).

I had that thing, it replaces the top steering column plastic cover right? I never installed any gauges because it looked too flimsy and then I parted out my car. Initially I was going to do IAT and Meth flow rate.

I think I'll wait for someone to integrate MHD into the iDrive, without a bunch of bluetooth stuff.

Has anyone used the Awron digital gauge? Just came across it and was curious.

Well here is the lhd version for e93 that I looked at: https://www.vividracing.com/catalog...es-lhd-bmw-335i-n54-e93-0710-p-151113080.html

Not sure if they are different. But it's hard to give up that vent, the p3 gauge at least gave you half. This seems like a main vent to lose? It does look awesome though.

I've heard mixed reviews about the awron. I asked a few questions about programming the unit to the manufacturer and they never responded. If you could custom program it it would be badass but it is much less impressive in person as its fucking tiny.

P3 guage just looks like an 80s alarm clock, not happening.

A company makes an integrated gauge for your rear view mirror. Disappears when off.

Retrofit the BMW heads up display.

Retrofit gauges to display on to Nav.

Performance steering wheel.

All better options but if looking for the best for function, analog. Mount it on your left side dash vent.

Actually, I'm going with this:

FWIW gauges are amazingly hard to read while at WOT, trying to shift, and not kill yourself. Really there more for show imo.

Just got done speaking with Ante at Awron and he said they do make a JB4 friendly gauge. It's model AW10401 and the price he gave me was 782.55 with shipping. It has an external boost sensor so it won't cause any problems on the CAN communications line.

Considering the cost, I think I'm going to stick to the idrive setup using xcarlink.

You have to be able to see the gauge from the corner of your eye. That's not great placement. The beauty of digital logging is seeing the max / min that registered during a pull for quick eval. Placement looks a little too...aftermarket for my taste as well.

Hmm, I thought there was some sort of bandwith limitation on the CAN line that wouldn't allow for more accurate info then what your logging parameters are reading. Did he give any more info on what that means by any chance? i.e. limitations to capabilities in any way. At least the price went down 30% from when it hit the market.

Yep, I'm just going to wire in my composite cable and try up down up down left right left right....and maybe it will show up on my screen. Will pull up the hidden accessory menu and tinker around with the software until I figure it out. Pretty sure that $300 xcarlink is just changing output resolution of whatever is plugged in to it.

Agreed. I didn't intend to mount them for show but quickly realized it's near impossible to safely read gauges while mid-pull. Hence why I'm not in a huge rush to replace the pod that broke.

Up, Up, Down, Down, Left, Right, Left, Right, B, A, Start.

From what I gather it enables video in motion. It also does backup camera dynamic lines which I thought was cool. I picked it up for like 250 shipped.

You basically have to have the gauges on your dash to be useful or a heads up display. Even A pillar is kind of useless. Steering wheel is okish but I personally hate the look and they block the stock gauges.

I quickly glance over and see i'm hitting my boost target and meth is flowing. If I want real info I will just look at my log. Gauges are really for show imo.

the only other info i got on the JB4 version was the values. But Ante Ivanovic is the product manager and will answer any question you may have. [email protected]
They also make an engine package that looks interesting since alot of people are looking into a standalone controller. Its a plug and play msd80 engine control unit. Check it out on their site.

You forgot select before start;)

FWIW, I run the ecs boost gauge. Matches OEM cluster easy install. Like others said previously though, kinda hard to read when wide open. You can at least have an idea if you're in the right boost range anyway.
