Cylinder head talk is great but I think that deserves its own thread lol

Still no clear winner on what turbo I should run. 6466 is good no doubt but I'm looking for something water cooled and that won't burn oil like my 6266. Asked @V8bait about his impressions on that 9180 EFR car he tuned a while back but no reply yet

Go garrett GTX3582 gen 2 cheaper than the gtx3584rs but is a 67mm turbo that can make some power

Wow that is surprising. So are Garrett compressor maps really conservative?

Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't 80 lb/min around 800 whp?

Do you know why it is burning oil? That is not normal afaik...I would go with a Garrett if I wanted water cooled which I don't think I need as I don't track my car. The cheapest/easiest would just be a rebuild of your precision for $700 bucks or whatever it is, assuming it stops your oil burning issue.

Here are a bunch of turbo flow rates not sure how accurate they are: https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/evo-x-dyno-results/692309-turbo-flow-rates.html

Yeah the general rule of thumb is 10lb/min equal 100whp on e85 but then again this is on a 2.35 S2000 motor. Those engines have extremely high VEs

I did compression test and used oil analysis on the motor I'm 99% sure the turbo is burning oil. It doesn't burn oil at all when I drive it normally but when I do pulls it burns oil. Nothing crazy like clouds out the back or anything I notice the oil level go down one click after beating on the car for a few days.

Talked to a few performance shops and the general consensus is "PTEs make jam but they smoke"

Interesting that is the 1st I have heard of that. Is that the reason you want to get rid of it? I mean oil is cheap ;)

I'm looking at getting into some road course / HPDE stuff, non water cooled turbos don't really last in those conditions afaik

6266 is doing great for now besides the oil consumption I have no other complaints with it. But I don't expect it to last forever

ive always seen PTE's smoke etc.. atleast they dont like to explode as much anymore :)

Get a BW unit IMO the s366 on the 2j car has been through hell and back at drift events, HPDE's, and auto-X. It didnt mind going into a wall etc.

the s257 on the 1j car just recently lit on fire (broken feed) and its still happy as a clam.

both of these are on dedicated drift/track cars, are'nt water cooled and live on the limiter :)

BW stuff is good. EFR all the way, esspecialy given we already have all the coolant ports etc..

I've got bottom mount EFR9180. Got 800hp on dynodynamics with 9.5cr on pump with meth cm7 30psi. full boost is from 4000rpm. pulls 4.9sec 100-200kph. Can't compare it to garrett because i've never use it. But it is more reliable than precision.

Great numbers for pump + meth. What does your wgdc look like? Any head work?
