Well played indeed.
I actually wanted to mark this with a laugh emoji but out of principle, marked it as dumb.
Ouch thats harsh.

Speaking on this topic, we will be upgrading the reactions feature when we update to XenForo 2.0 and don't worry the poop/ice cream will be present. This is what it will look like, you have to click the thumb button first and then the options pop out:

I definitely don't agree with some of your opinions but I appreciate people who have a sense of humor. Especially on forums.

Thanks. I don't like pissing people off or being at odds with people but at the end of the day, it's the forums. People are different behind the keyboard.

What makes it tough is that I've been in communication with Doug through this entire process. I know where he's headed, who is testing his turbos, the setbacks, revisions, and what he's done different than other vendors bringing their products in from China. I know what's coming down the pipe as well, and that's exciting. I can't talk about any of it as it's not mine to talk about and I'm not about to jeopardize my relationship for some internet bragging.

Doug has personally helped me out. I blew my engine and he was the only person in the N54 community to get a hold of me and offer up anything he had to help me out. He's that kind of guy. So when I say, "I know Doug, he's a good guy" I really mean it. I have an engine block sitting in my garage that is proof of that. He even went so far as to make sure I had transportation for the interim while my car is being worked on.

I promise I am the same in real life as on forums and social media. I've also been modding cars for a long time, this is not the first time I've seen Frankenturbo come on to a platform. Doug brings this stuff on himself. That thread on e90 was mind numbing to quite a few people, myself included.

There's a rule in place that prevents me from sharing screencaps (which I don't agree with, but I'm not trying to get booted again rofl).

The gist of it is, frankenturbo customer by the name of Luke claimed oil consumption / smoking issues on his turbos. 12+ people messaged him with similar issues. In these messages it shows Doug blames the install multiple times with multiple customers. Additionally he requested that an unfavorable video be not posted publicly, claiming that the customer did not know what the issue is and that it would be unfair.

It's unclear at this point whether the people with issues are on beta CHRAs or final revision CHRAs. But "beta tester" seems to be thrown around as an excuse.

I have no horse in the upgraded twins game at this point, but I've seen enough to be glad I didn't buy into the hype.

We currently don’t have a Facebook but will share our experience.

We’ve installed “beta” sets for a customer of ours. We suggested a different route for him when we were deciding on options but when the price is right and you don’t mind being a guinea pig, you can’t say no.

We’ve had to deal with Doug personally and have to say he took care of this guy beyond our expectations. He’s currently running a “new revision” set. The car is daily driven and it has been about 6 months now.

Doug wanting a Facebook closed group he can control and delete messages that is very hard to be researched because its Facebook? So weird.

Forums are nice because they are easily searchable for data and very open and public.

Facebook is full of group think echo chambers. Especially a closed one ran by the manufacturer.

Just my thoughts. In for more information. I have 2 buddies who need new turbos. Personally: #singlelife

I have the Franken turbo's, and so far love them. Still in the tuning process, but at 24psi and climbing, pulls hard, no smoke, rattle, etc. Car prob only has 200 miles maybe, but those are constant wot pull miles. Will update when I get more mileage on them

Doesn't matter what type of miles I only do 2k to 4k a yr on my car but i have 10k miles one big constant pull lol
Honestly though with beta, just being installed and running is great and so far so good but I wouldn't put to much faith especially since sounds like you are planning to kill them .Otherwise I don't see why you shouldn't baby them and let break in first.

I have been lurking in the beta tester group for a while and I can't say I've seen many posts about smoke/fails.That being said, I don't plan on running out and buying them when the "beta test" lasted less than roughly 3 months....

Also, just google Frakenturbo issues and you will see that Doug has been in the business a while... and not in a good way.

I've got on to him about that before and his excuse was that he was scrolling the forums and replying while driving......
Exactly and I always go back within an hour or two and edit. I just post stuff when I think of it.
Also it isn't an excuse its just what happens ,I spend my whole day 6 days a week driving around my state from job to job selling and monitoring while also sometimes doing some work myself. I don't even know what the desktop version of this site looks like.

Uh you dont break in a turbo. And yeah type of miles count. Hence why the old saying goes "high way miles are better than city miles on an engine". Constant wot pulls at 150k+ rpms is harder on the turbo than just cruising.

And by no means do I "baby" my car. She gets abused like a red headed step child.

I agree with your first paragraph. but 200 miles is not nearly enough to be making any kind of statement about the reliability of these turbos. Even when pushed hard.
