Hey guys new to bmw, owned this for about 8 months did my research to try and understand the complexity of these engines but this has me stumped
e92 335i auto trans, stock rebuilt turbos, index 10 injectors, brand new coilpacks and spark plugs gapped to .022, new hpfp, lpfp, new vanos solenoids, camshaft position sensors and crankshaft position sensor, running msd81 with mhd stage 2, only code pulled is cylinder 6 misfire. I’m a noob with bmw’s and I’m not really sure how to tell what’s wrong by looking at the logs I have. Seems to rough idle and misfire at any rpm, anything past quarter throttle instant misfire on 6.
Pulled bank 2 injectors specifically keeping an eye on 6 and did NOT leak. Not really sure where to go from there or how to take the info from my logs and use it to narrow down the problem.
Any help would be greatly appreciated

Can't read the logs the way you attached them.

Have you swapped the coils around to see if it still misfires?
Does it happen on stock map?

I think I have pics of the logs attached now.
Yes I have tried swapping coils it doesn’t change from 6, yes it happens on stock map also.
I can’t read the logs all that great but what I can say is that AFR bank 2 is erratic compared to bank 1

The LPFP shows it is pegged at 139psi. My guess is the sensor is bad. It sits in the line right in front of the HPFP, and is pretty easy to get to.

Most LPFP sit around 70 psi. As an example I have a Walbro 535 and Walbro 450 installed and I do not usually go higher then 88 PSI.

I should have mentioned thats been fixed and didn’t make a difference I haven’t had a chance to get another log since

I did however watch the monitors after fixing it with mhd and the lpfp was hovering between 67 and 75 so that seems normal then

That’s what I was thinking too, is it common? Or could it be the bank 2 sensor? I can try running some injector cleaner thru the system and see if that makes a difference

You can consider moving injectors around also but will need to be prepared to do it quickly or prepared to replace the orings because they expand.

Won't run the best as possible unless you can also recode the injector values but it should be good enough to help diagnose.

Maybe it could be the sensor. Do what NoQuarter suggested would be the most cost effect way, just a little bit of work to do it correctly.

alright thanks guys for the help, since it’s bank 2 that’s giving me problems specifically cylinder 6 would you recommend moving #6 to one of the others in bank 2 or move it to bank 1 and log again to see if the erratic afr changes to bank 1?

Move it to bank 1.
Just switched injector #6 with #1 and misfire followed to cylinder 1, would that be a clogged injector or just replace it? I know it’s costly and after the msd81 upgrade and everything else I can’t afford to replace a whole bank quite yet, is there any alternative like cleaning? They are index 10 injectors

Will need to get a used index 9 or 10 or 3 new index 12s.

10s in one bank and 12s in the other.

Where are you located?
