My question is can the stock DME or some aftermarket controller (not a full blown ecu) control an aftermarket HPFP? If no just wounder what is differen't. I'm still reading and researching. But I figured why not ask.
Mainly the XDI-HPFP-60

So I have my engine out of the 07 e90 335. I decided to try an experiment for giggles and $hits. I pulled the vacuum pump and hpfp from my m2 to see if they would fit my e90 and it did. Similar to the idea of the M3/4 pumps fitting the n54.

The shotgun system doesn't fit on XI's

I think your right on the factory pump. That is why I was asking about an upgraded n55 pump
Never knew the xi dont work that sucks. I got it though this way you could do s55 retro or one of the new single pump upgrade options. Chris at vtt just recently made post taking apart a pump and discussing different approaches. He and others also touched on what would be needed to control different pumps with dme. I will search and post when have chance if you or someone else doesnt beat me to it

Very keen to hear some info on this. I'd like a DI option but I'm not a big fan of the vtt double barrel.

The simple answer is yes, @jyamona has a factory DME controlling multiple N54 pumps.

The more complex answer is the N54 pump is controlled differently than the S55/N55 pumps. You could also retrofit the Z4 electric power steering to your car, ditch the hydraulic power steering, then run the shotgun setup where the factory power steering pump was to clear your XI drivetrain.

I would love to hear about the factory DME controlling multiple pumps.
No way to retrofit the z4 electric steering to an Xi. Completely front sub frame.

has anyone done that? I tried installing the shotgun kit on my RWD e92, but unfortunately my car Active steering. because on the outlet on the pump, it can't be mounted. Also even in you mount it, the rack input shaft is bigger so it still won't fit.

Has anyone been able to code out active steering and just get regular steering, or electric steering?

I'll be tackling it soon, but to my knowledge nobody has retrofitted EPS yet.

battlehawk there is someone trying to work out a way to control the S55 HPFP on N54. It is a lot of work, its not plug and play.

There is already a thread on xdi here, and there is a private thread on controlling the s55 pumps on the n54. Those high capacity pumps are bosch motorsport specials and you have to pay several thousand dollars to get them, bosch quoted me figures costing more than a car itself.

There is also a quad pump housing, so trchnically the normal s55 pumps sho kg be plenty if you put enough on. At some point it will just make more sense to go PI or standalone. Between the hpfp system and the piezo injectors, we are handicapped.

Time for n52 head swap.

The N52 is PI and Valvetronic, why are we even talking about N52 head swaps ?
