Good to know, must have been an isolated user error. Going to spend the weekend testing it out, hoping it solves my stage 2 issues.

My car is still at the shop for tuning, but I have two of these installed and they have not reported any problems.

There should not be a battery drain issue. The unit in sleep mode will draw only 3mA of power. a typical car battery with 60Ahr would take approximately 20,000hrs to drain the battery from the BPM4.

Let my car sit for about 8 hours, started up fine but with a 387f code, seems to be related to battery drain. Followed the instructions on wiring and I replaced my battery just 6 months ago. Going to let it sit overnight and see what happens but that seems like more cause for concern.

Did you have the car battery disconnected while you did the install? Also before you let it sit overnight did you clear the code again first?

We just bench tested all of the modules in house and there is not one that would cause a battery to drain. If you have a multimeter and want to email us we can tell you how to check how much your module is pulling.

I definitely had the battery disconnected the whole time, I connected the red terminal to the positive post on the driver side of the battery and then plugged the power input harness into the pm4 as last steps. I left a usb cable ran, but not plugged into the laptop after some initial logging.

The 387f came back pretty quickly, but I'll clear and let it sit and check again. Won't take up any more of this thread on support however, if I notice anything else I'll email. The PM4 fixed the stalling I was experiencing on the stock EKP3, so it's still a thumbs up from me.

edit: cleared code last night, sat for 12+ hours, no codes today. Just waiting on the tophats to be available!

Where are people mounting the BPM4 module in an E90? I was hoping to put it on the metal tray under the trunk floor cover put it won’t fit with the TCU on the right and the (??? Other unit) on the left.
Maybe somewhere in the well behind it? But that’s plastic - how hot does the BPM4 module get under high load?

UPDATE: The unit on the left is the Satellite Radio. Since I stopped using the Satellite Radio 9 years ago (lol) I think I know where the BPM4 module will go he he he.
(Hopefully I’ll be able to code out Sat Radio using ProTool)

UPDATE 2: Apparently disconnecting the Sat Radio is not so simple as it’s on the MOST loop or something like that - I got the phone SOS code on the dash when I disconnected the Sat radio and turned on the ignition.

I don’t want to futz with the Sat Radio so I’m thinking of fitting it between the Sat Radio and TCU under the black clamp - red box area below. But I’m just a little concerned now about too much heat build-up below the trunk cover and liner, especially being right next to the TCU.
Any ideas?

UPDATE 3:
I was able to fit the BPM4 module under the black clamp after removing the two 10mm nuts, which will go back on. Looks like I’ll be able to route the cabling adequately around everything. Any one have any comments about this install location?
Thanks.

You can get a MOST terminator which is basically a loop which keeps the fiber optic ring bus going. I bought two when doing my combox retro fit so I think I have a spare.

Also below your tcu should be space if you don't have a MULF. The problem I have with that space is water pools there if you get water in your trunk somehow.

Thanks for the advice. I’m going to try mounting it as shown in the last photo above, between the sat radio and TCU. I’ll test heat and temps etc - if too hot I’ll hit you up for your spare MOST terminator.

If not I think you can check under here:
29944

29946

If you don't have a MULF under there like me you may have some space. Some cars came without a MULF. Some cars only have a MULF and no telematics unit.

This is what the MOST terminator looksl like, its a loop:

Well, it’s in. Took all day. And I’m still getting 2AAF codes, and getting 58psi, not 72psi reported on my LPFP. And now I’m also getting the leaking current code 2DED “DME Power Management, closed-circuit current violation” (as also reported by another member).
Grrrr... help?

Finally got mine installed, just have a single 450 connected atm and was having some stalls at low speeds with no codes besides the ekp3 being overdrawn. Hoping the bpm4 allieviates that.

Is everyone just connecting it directly to the battery? Started hearing about battery drain issues, wondering if people are running a relay/fuse tap instead or it's just cars sitting a while on old batteries.
I installed mine today and got the battery drain code 2DED...

I have a different code (N55 tho) but it's been persistent. Waiting on EOS to send me a quote on the tophat so I can just get one of those and see if it persists after redoing the wiring. Not sure what my actual pressure is, cause N55.

I'm about to install my BPM4 next, just finishing up the pump parts. You should probably send Mike an email and see if he can help you get it sorted.

I have the bpm4 installed on my car and this is popping up on ista+. Is this normal? I'm also throwing 2aaf. I haven't had the chance to log yet as I need to see if my motor is ok first.

I think that's normal, I no longer see the EKP module on mine after removing it.

This is normal for ISTA to show the EKP communications like this. The unit ties into the PT-CAN circuit and reads duty cycles the DME is sending out. It only reports back necessary data to the DME, and does not have all of the communications that would make ISTA happy. This does not effect function of the unit.

Is it planned to have the software updated on the BPM4 so when the shop do a check on the car "no errors" would show?
