Most of you probably wont know this but some diesel European E90's came with an ECRAS (Electronically Controlled Radiator Shutter). Being the person I am, I like doing random mods as long as I think its cool.
Here is the link to the description of ECRAS for further explanation, but it may be doable to us non diesels as the DME has some maps for controlling it (2nd photo). Its a simple 3 wire motor, ground, PWM, terminal 87 or 15 12v.
I'll probably tackle this before winter comes along and it'll be nice for that extra MPG
