Better N54 oil filtration

BMW Master Tech friend from France (and N54 owner) showed me today. I'll ask how he knows.

Seems interesting. I believe it will fit just fine on N54, but kinda weird if the better flow and better filtration are in the same package. Normal person would think that better filtration would effect flow in negative way. Let us know, when you know better!

The S55 filter has already been mentioned before in the below thread from a while back. There’s some other good stuff in that thread too. I have run S55 filters the past couple of oil changes, there’s an M logo on the filter, does anymore need to be said?

Having both side by side though, they don’t look different really, I’ll dig out a photo.

Allegedly the Mahle n54 stock filter is a better performer than the Mann…but that was based on a YouTube test…so (at the moment) I’d like to see the qualitative or quantitative analysis…

I've asked a sales presentative of Mann + Hummel for the difference between HU 8011 and HU 816.

Let's what the outcome is.
Besides a different Micron size I don't expect any big differences.

Housing/cage is the same on the N20/N51/N52/N53/N54/N55/S55. It must be the filter media itself, surely?

No worries and yeah, not much information on the oil filter itself. But this was the first thread I had stumbled across that mentioned the S55 filter and its alleged potential benefits.

I fitted a S55 (F8X M3/M4) oil filter, these are presumably high flowed version of the standard N54/N55 filter. It’s also used on the M4 GT4 race car.

M for money...but i think its not easy for common people to test flow levels/filtration of an engine oil filter.....
