Best upgraded twins for 2025?

The wastegates on my 2008 e61 535xi recently went and I'm looking at upgrading the turbos. I've considered a lot of brands and done a bit of research, and here's what I'm considering:

RB two/two plus: Seem to be the best option to be honest, but would like something that has 2" inlets and can squeeze out a bit more power, probably around 600hp, and the game finishers are out of my budget.

Frankenturbos F54: probably one of the more cost effective kits as they come with relocated inlets and outlets, but have heard some not so nice things about the company/quality control.

Hydra hp650/hp800: definitely what I would've gone for had their website not disappeared off the face of the internet. (At least I can't find them, I contacted them on Facebook and they haven't responded yet).

CTS stage 2+ RS: probably just another importer that slaps their name on Chinese turbos, but I can get them through ecs tuning with a lifetime replacement guarantee.

I'm still trying to figure out what to get, as I'm only really looking for 600whp max, so I don't need anything too crazy. More just something so I don't have to drop the subframe again. Thanks in advance!

RB turbo’s hands dow.

I wa dyno & street tuned by Ken@wedge.

Im running S2 with 30% E85 mix (I’m using a flex fuel adapter and I do have to worry about swithing maps) and I dyno’d over 520whp and nearly 570tq (dyno jet of course). * withe 30% E85.
*No meth or port injection.
*93 pump gas I dyno in the 450whp and close to 470 to.

If your feeling spicy, go for 2+ or their GFB line of turbo’s but you will need port/meth infection to get the most of them.

Unfortunately RB have a really long lead time right now and I have to have these done by the end of the summer, so I think I'll have to go with some hydra hp650s

Frankenturbo is a joke of a company and the owner is the biggest hack around. The e90post thread is worth a read if you have a little time and want a good laugh. There's a youtube video exposing his blatantly fake graphs too.

I'd drop CTS and Frankenturbo off your consideration list immediately.

IMO: RB, Hydra, Pure in that order. I wouldn't consider anything else even if they do have a lifetime warranty. They're not gonna pay labor or compensate you for downtime.

I have the RB Game Finishers running Port and Meth injection ... I bought the car that way.
I have seen some videos of Omar and his set up and results and it's pretty impressive, but that said, I am interested in understanding any fact based differences/comparisons vs the options out there ....

Good hardware is a key part of the equation, but setting up the entire engine and tune as well play a big part of the performance and reliability goals.

Malheureusement, RB a un très long délai de livraison en ce moment et je dois les avoir terminés d'ici la fin de l'été, donc je pense que je vais devoir opter pour des Hydra HP650
Forget the HP650 Get the HP800 Gen2 The HP800 Gen2 charges fast (like the HP650) but has the ability to provide more boost. The Hydra website was never created. You can reach them by email...or contact Omar Kay on Facebook. Sorry for the bad English.

For a price point and turbos that make good power and decently reliable. eBay 19T’s are not bad at all. Regardless all type of twins are going to eventually have the same failures just at different intervals!

You can get the same turbos CTS rebrands for $600 on eBay. I’ll throw in another name in there: Turbo Parts Canada 19Ts. I think they hold the record 60-130 time on a stock motor and stock trans n54

I have had a set of 19T RB Game Finisher High Flow turbos on my car which have done 20,000km without any issue. I haven't had the car on a dyno in that time so I don't know what power the engine is putting out, but it has done a 10.6s run on E30 and 22psi boost.
