So guys I went over to Daves shop right last night and burned some midnight methanol with him fitting and stuff like that and talking about somethings the n54 community needs and wants.. Anyways he gave me permission to post up some teaser pics.. Some of you guys may recognize the design.. Its a V2 let's say of probably the most wanted exhaust for our cars.. There will be a few revisions to the design you see and I'm trying to talk him into slip joints for the last rear section to ease install.. Let Dave know what you think and as always constructive criticism is always welcome! @ATMSpeedShop

Exactly! Dave is a natural make stuff better kinda guy.. A few tweaks will be made just to aid install for the most part

We will be test fitting on various models just to make sure. Right now we are nailing it down to rwd cars
But I'm sure gonna work on options to make it fully compatible as long as it's within reason to suite all cars!

That's good to hear. I had an HPF v2 exhaust for my XI- sold it, didn't feel right hacking it up.

I purchased an HPF V2 for my car, felt bad about hacking up the exhaust to make it fit, ended up selling it.

If you don't mind me asking what were the main places to overcome for clearance.. Dave nor I have an xi on hand right now to test fit on.. I can get one no problem just a scheduling thing.

+1 We would definitely like to know what fitment issues you had so we can do our best making this work on the xi as well.

I also ran an hpf gen 2 on my xi but I didn't have any issues with it fitting although it did hang a a bit low after the split from the downpipes but it seems like that is the nature of a 3.5" exhaust.

Hey I noticed you're in south jersey, I'm an xi in north jersey and would love to help out if you need to test fit this on an xi car!

Yes that does seem do be the nature. I know Dave is doing his best to gain ground clearance but glad you noticed the nature of the beast lol

As for fitting I have a close friend with an xi if it falls through I will reach out to you

Thanks in advance, Matt

Yes, we're making a few changes and one of the reasons is to gain ground clearance as we know it was an issue.

Good to know we have another option for the Xi, thanks for the offer!

Can't wait to see how this goes! Great to see another 3.5" exhaust option!

Why not just do 3" and gain a little clearance? 3" is plenty capable of dealing with the exhaust flow 90+% of N54 owners will be dealing with.

I personally like the 2 bolt flanges for the exhaust, a lot easier removing and installing while increasing the looks of the exhaust. Will you be making a set with bolt on flanges?

Our intent at this point is to stick to an exhaust that we know many love and release that first. We did a few changes to this one and we think it will make it even better than it was. But we are not ruling out other options either.

Bolt on flanges are nice for the reasons you stated but we have found them inferior for sealing. They almost always leak over time. The diesel exhausts (335d) use this style to interface with the factory setup and we've encountered this issue. So we will go either V-band or slip-joint or the combination
