Some of us (mostly without iDrive) have bluetooth for phone but not audio (yup, and BMW considers itself a technology company). Anyone tried the Bluestream?

I have Bluetooth with CIC and I can’t stream music. Very annoying.

I use the tune2air adapter

Thing works and sounds great

That is what I am using. I actually had to order the wma1000 from Europe because it's the only one that seemed to work. Mine periodically drops at the head unit and I have to reselect the USB input.

If you have the combos unit - it can be coded to stream BT music.

My car is WBALM7C51BE383788, 11/18/2010 build, no iDrive, 676 HiFi, and 6VC Combox.

I thought this setup required iDrive for the bluetooth audio side? I have bluetooth calling, currently, but not audio streaming. Can you clarify, given the specific info I provided?

Thanks,

Filippo

Don’t think the iDrive is needed. Usually I would just get into the combos and enable it ...

I use a home receiver that I power with USB and listen through the aux. Its a little clunky but hidden in my center console and has the highest quality sound that I've found. Not that BT ever sounds great.

also very interested in coding for BT. but as of now I use some cheap BT adaptor off amazon. wouldn't recommend it because the audio quality is junk. would love to find a better solution.

Tony I took a photo of my unit. No iDrive in my car. 11/2010 build date. I have bluetooth phone, but not audio. Can bluetooth streaming be activated so it works with my car's head unit?

It would be worth trying to code. Im fairly sure it will work. Ive retro fitted it to my car (I have iDrive) for this reason.
The combox takes the various inputs be they digital( Bluetooth) or analogue (microphone) and digitises them, so it’s a gateway into the audio system.

Tune to air works with the older Mulf systems well. Effectively it does the Bluetooth to analogue conversion. Looks like an iPod to the system. You need the correct one for each car. Comboxes retro can be difficult but do give a factory result. Again there are two types of combox bn2000 and bn2010. There’s lots of info on combox retrofits available.

I always recommend covering up your IMEI as nefarious people can do annoying things with them.

Interested in this as well. Bluetooth calling but not audio streaming is super irritating. I tried one of those bluetooth audio adapters and it didn't hold up.

They generally suck. I still don't have an answer. I need to code out EDC, and a few other things. I may ask bimmergeeks. I'm just amazed this stuff is not basic public knowledge at this point.

I did buy a WMA1000 bluetooth dongle which works ok ... had to get it out of Europe. Anyway ...
