Took the 335 in for the blower motor wiring and since no fix is available they put me in a 430I rental from enterprise. The service writer didn't have an estimate on when the fix will be finished so until then I'm happy driving the 430.

You guys take yours in for the repair?

I will at some point. I always request the exact car I want and they have given it to me so far. But every dealership is different.

my car is still in pieces lol.

but honestly, these cars are close to a decade old. chances of them catching fire all the sudden is pretty low. plus most mainstream BMW sucks these days, I have no interests in driving a loaner unless it is a M2/3/4 or 6er.

I assume in order to get the loaner, you must "turn your car in" to the dealership? I don't like the idea of leaving my car for the techs to joyride in. I'm having mine fixed elsewhere and then submitting the bill in to the dealership as per the recall campaign. But it would be nice to drive a newer series for awhile.

was in an Ecoboost Mustang for the past week while waiting for misc collision related stuff. Haven't driven such an uninspired car in a while. Colossal pig of a thing.

The dealers in my area actually refuse to keep the cars on property as they "don't have space". Which could be true or they don't want the liability of having it catch fire on lot and cause other damage. So you have to keep your car at your house. Mine is in my driveway with the blower motor fuse taken out.

I was offered an enterprise 430i vert loaner which I quickly declined as I don't like verts. Had a 430i loaner a few months ago and wasn't a huge fan.

Got a 2017 BMW X3 instead. I wasn't given an ETA on a fix either but the rental is on a month by month basis so it will keep getting extended in 30 day increments until my car is fixed. Costing BMW $2,400 a month for me to drive this X3.

I would think that with their age and the degradation/corrosion of the wires/connector, the cars would be at a higher chance of catching fire now more than ever. Just my opinion though.

Bmw told me to keep my car at home. Enterprise has me in a 2018 Lincoln Continental! Man it’s a boat but kinda relaxing in the morning driving to work. I called in today asking if they could get me something more sporty like a bmw or infinity q60. So we will see, anyways I’m happy with how bmw has handled the situation!

My dealer said they wouldn't do anything for me because there was no fix. I just contacted BMW of NA and they are opening a ticket for me to help me out. The dealer was very quick to give me nothing and put me on a list for the fix. I's surprised there are so many people that got rentals/loaners so easily.

When I first called the local dealer they attempted to put me on a list and hold the car at my house. I had to escalate the issue by contacting BMW north America to actually get into a replacement.

Where can I find out if my car is on the list for being a fire hazard?

Here's to hoping it is, and that it burns to the ground so I can buy a car called notaBMW

To anyone who's having issues getting a loaner, the magic phrase is to say "I don't feel safe driving my car" and then the dealer will take action. I mentioned this and was quickly told I would be in a loaner later that day. I had a few friends call and just request a loaner and no dice. Then they mentioned not feeling safe and boom...rental.

This is stated in the recall itself. Something along the lines of that those who do not feel safe driving their vehicle will be given loaner cars.
