Technical another HPFP over drive way for the cars can not run VTT kits

Hello

As you know, the VTT team has released the shotgun kits which simply over driving the HPFP pump , it works well and provide awesome direct injection performance.
but the kit can not run in the cars:E6X 5 series chassis, XI models or models with Active Steering. So for these cars ,people only has to choose Port injection or port meth injection as an aux fuel supply.
I am thinking and planning the next way :
please see the picture , the vacuum pump gear (the read arrow) drives the vacuum pump and fuel pump. If we recuded this gear to 2/3 size, we would get a 50% increase of pump speed. for support, we should reduce the length of the oil pump chain and modify the chain tensioner steel as the blue arrow.

My plan is increase the 50% speed, so the chain tensioner maybe need only a little change.

50% increase is good enough for people who run good pumps but lack of fuel when applying single turbo.

My question is :

Does this way sound workable ?
is there any difference in tuning?

Think would have to keep it to like 20 percent or less unless we can get actual specs on vac pump. I'm sure vtt thought of this before going with the belt drive. Pretty sure anything BMW uses has 20 percent margin.

Go for it, post results, make kit, sell, profit. Assuming it works well.

I'm not a huge fan of over spinning already weak components but it is what it is. I guess you buy a lifetime fcp HPFP and just learn to deal with it if/when it fails.

Well except a grenaded hpfp sends metal through the rail and injectors, right?

My injectors also have an fcp lifetime warranty ;)

They dont all fail catastrophicly in that manner do they?

I really don't understand how that warranty is supposed to work if they pay out lots of claims surely they will go out of business. Smacks of movie pass

I don't doubt this has been thought about and looked into before. And I'm sure Tony had thought of it too.
Problem is it's not going to be a job the 'average joe' can undertake Where as the Shotgun is a fairly straightforward job with no special tool requirements.


I like this idea in it's simplicity. But I fear it's going to be far more involved to achieve than other options.

Curious if you've installed a VTT shotgun? Not for the average joe from what I've heard (I own one, but haven't done it yet).

I thought about that idea. A while ago. Even if it works I will be a limited market since most people will go with VTTs kit due to how easy it is to install.
Your target will be the Xi guys, 535i guys, and the guys with Active steering. I had active steering so I swapped out the whole steering system to make the double shotgun kit fit. But install of the kit itself is pretty easy. Easier then installing inlets.

Also if HPFP pump explodes somehow, the injectors have filters to keep the metal shards out. I have never seen such a case.

No I don't.
I need one but I can't justify the cost yet. Sure that'll change after I eat an engine. LOL

But from the pictures and things I've seen, it really doesn't look hard to do. Time consuming is all. The best advice I can give for working on cars on your own is this, remove parts until you get a good view of the work. It can really save time seeing what you're doing.

This would require way too much work... You realize you need to remove the hub to get the timing chain off, right?

Once the hub and timing chain are off you need BMWs timing tool to get everything back in time. Not too many people have that kind of tine, skills, or tools.

There are some pretty nice 12v DC motors out there that should generate enough torque to spin a second hpfp. Design a bracket, mount it somewhere, and just run a 2nd hpfp?

This would be the best solution I feel as it would make the mounting location useable to all chassis that use the N54. Could the DME be setup to control the logic for an electric motor in a setup like this?

I don't think I would have DME control the motor itself, but rather set to motor to a fixed RPM. The DME would PWM control the valve in the second hpfp though.

I was looking at this awhile ago as I am XI. I was wondering if it would be possible to fabricate an adapter off the vac pump that would hold the original HPFP and have room for another one.
