Amsoil developed A NEW Steel Reinforced Synthetic Nano Oil Filter
for the N5X platform.

Amsoil is well known for their 100% original synthetic oil which is a superior oil lubricant as many of you guys know.

If you don’t know get informed!

I have been fortunately chosen to receive a filter for feedback testing from amsoil.

•AMSOIL CLAIMS•

Efficiency

is the filter’s ability to capture contaminants. The more efficient a filter
is, the more contaminants it will remove from the oil. AMSOIL Ea Oil Filters have
one of the best efficiency ratings in the automotive/light-truck market.

Ea Oil Filters

provide a filtering efficiency in accordance with industry standard ISO 4548-12 of 98.7 percent at 20 microns, while competitive filters demonstrate efficiencies as low as 51 percent.

Less Restriction

Proper oil flow is essential to keeping engine parts lubricated at all times.
Ea Oil Filters’ synthetic fibers are smaller than the fibers used in traditional filters,
allowing Ea Oil Filters to provide lower restriction.

During cold-temperature warm-up periods, an Ea Oil Filter allows the oil to flow through the filter more easily than
a typical cellulose filter does.
(Lower restriction decreases engine wear.)

Contaminant Retention

A filter’s capacity refers to the amount of contaminants it can hold and still remain
effective. AMSOIL Ea Oil Filters have a greater capacity for small, wear-causing
contaminants than competing filter lines.
They last longer and ensure the oil is
properly filtered.

Superior Construction

AMSOIL Ea Oil Filters are made with premium-grade full-synthetic media. The
strictly controlled processing of this media ensures accurate filter construction and is what allows Ea Oil Filters to deliver higher capacity and efficiency along with better durability.

Ea Oil Filters’ full-synthetic media technology is resin-free to resist degradation from hot oil.

It uses a wire screen backing that is pleated with the media for superior
strength.

Ea Oil Filters are constructed with HNBR gaskets that are fully tested to extreme
distances in numerous severe environments.

They feature fully tucked seams,
a molded element seal, roll-formed threads and a long-lasting,
premium-grade silicone anti-drainback valve.

Filter Last 15000 Miles

•TEST INFO•
Oil: LiquiMolly 5W-40
Oil Filter: Amsoil
Fuel:93 OCTANE
Weather:30F-70F (Southern Winter)
Driving style: Consistent graceful daily driving, along with bursts of WOT from time to time.

•5000 Interval Info•

(PT.1)

I’ll be driving (800+ Miles) along I-10 from South East Texas TO Central West Florida.

(PT.2)
This will be 90%city” miles approximately 3000 miles.

(PT.3)
Returning back to Texas along I-10 (800+ Miles)

(PT.4)
Testing will be completed after 5000 Miles , filter will be inspected and results will be posted.

•EXTRA•
My main concern is the design of the filter is similar to other filters that we know will fail which is ironically why I was chosen to test it, however this design is NOT 100% the same as others competitors, what I can tell from pictures at least.

Testing recommendations are welcome!

So

If the Amsoil filter is a "nano" filter, what does 20 microns matter?

Is not Nano 1/1000th of a Micron?

Yay, marketing.

/science.
The material of the filter are nano fibers that expand and contract.
Re-read the sentence, it’s stating at 20 microns the filter is 98.7% efficient

20 micron is a standard test they do on their filters from what I understand.

The filter Is an “ Ea “ filter which amsoil says is good for 15k miles.

Check here for “Ea” filter info:

Would be good to disclose what oil you will use, type of fuel, weather and what type of driving.
Agree these things are all important.

I'll stay optimistic otherwise I guess, I always like "advances" in the platform no matter how small. But I have a feeling that just like in that metal filter thread, we wont see any groundbreaking results like advertised.

Its agreeable that all advancements are meaningful for us.

I will clarify some info,

•FIRST IMPRESSIONS•

Along with the filter AMSOIL includes both O-Rings and the copper washer which is very reccomened changing each oil change.

Seeing this filter and feeling the material in person has changed my initial thoughts about it failing due to the design.

The filter is VERY STIFF much stiffer than a Mann filter inside & out.

The AMSOIL won’t be collapsing on itself like many others do.

As far as the filter separating at the top or bottom is looking unlikely.

The size of the filter seems larger than the Mann, I will have a comparison of the size differences soon.

Overall i’m impressed with the filter material quality and design in person, it doesn’t feel cheap one bit.

Amsoil might be replacing Mann as the gold standard for us N5X guys..still early.

I use both ;)

Are you an Amsoil dealer? Asking only because this thread reads like the type of sales effort that Amsoil encourages its dealers to use in its multi-level marketing program.

I'm sure it's good stuff (though I prefer Motul oil and Mann filters), but if you have self-interest in recommending their products it'd be best if it were disclosed.

I am not a dealer,
A dealer set me up with this filter because I challenged if it would hold up, if you check the original post at the very bottom I mention my concern about it failing. I also listed amsoils claims for information purposes.

I’m a very positive person sorry if it looks
differently other than that.

I’m not getting anything out of this other than the filter,

I disclosed this already:

I don’t see what your getting at, im not trying sell anyone anything these are the claim of amsoil, I’ve simply highlighted them and look forward to see if this filter works without failure.

Fair enough. Wasn't meaning to cast aspersions, but I failed to note that reference. I may have been distracted by what struck me as marketing fluff.

Actually the Mann filters on Ebay are competitive for the one you posted of Mann 816 you can get 2 for that price.
But interested in what you find with Amsoil filter.

That’s retail price I wasn’t really using that screen shot for price comparison..

Mann will likely always be cheaper being a all paper filter where as the amsoil has reinforced steel inside.

if you’re good with your amsoil dealer you can get dealer pricing, im not really focused on pricing all that much currently I know it’s relevant, however cheaper isn’t always better, as far as I know Mann filters aren’t rated for 15k miles intervals either.

Amsoil filter fitment was 100% including o-rings and washer.

Now the longevity test begins shortly.

And how are you measuring "longevity?" Are you getting an analysis done of the oil or simply a doing a visual inspection of the filter?

I remain skeptical about this as I've never had a problem with a Mann filter.

Not really sure this deserves an all caps subject marked "technical."

The guy is doing this for his own benefit and has decided to be kind enough to share his opinions, views, etc. He isn't trying to compare 20 filters and tell us what's best. He isn't trying to sell something. He's just being open and sharing.

Why do we keep trying to beat him up?

@BoostedE90 I don't think the filter will fail. Amsoil has a good reputation for a reason. As for their marketing wank...well, it's about as accurate as any other marketing department's spin and twist on their version of the truth.

I'm betting you'll find nothing out of the ordinary but the end conclusion will be "Why spend 2x as much on Amsoil when Mann does the exact same thing for 1/2 the price?".
