The car is a 2010 E92 xdrive, a
nd I'm currently running a staggered setup. Front is 235/35/19, rear is 265/30/19, wheels are Avant Garde M359, 9x19 et35 front and 10x19 et38 rear. I like the look of the wheels, but I'm considering replacing them.

My issue is the lip of the rim, which extends beyond the sidewall of the tire. I've come into contact with a curb, as has my wife when she's driven the car. My preference would be that the curb come into contact with the tire vs the aluminum of the wheel. Each time the aluminum lip kisses the curb a bit more of the matte black finish is ground off.

So I'm looking for input on a set of wheels with the above specs, but with a low(er) profile rim lip, preferably a lip which sits flush on the sidewall/bead. While both front and rear extend beyond the sidewall, the rear is a bit more pronounced.

Also, I'm considering a chrome 5 spoke vs the matte black & patterned M359.

Pics attached for visual reference / explanation.

Thanks for your input.

I had the hankook v12 with MORR VS7, they do have a lip, but that isn't going to stop you from having issues. The problem is the specs you're providing, you can't have a 9" wide wheel with a 235 profile tire and not have stretch like you're showing in the photos. That is a wide wheel and a not so wide by comparison tire and you'll always stretch. That tire when mounted to a properly sized wheel will indeed sit flush with the lip of the wheel.

I'll also say that even when the tire does sit flush and you've got a tire with a little extra lip guard, when you hit a curb it will still push the rubber lip in and scrape the wheel and/or cut into the rubber guard. There isn't really a way to stop that unless you get a skinner wheel and a fatter tire and have some sidewall overhang, but I don't think that is ideal.

With an et38 that wheel should be pretty well tucked in but it might be because you're an Xi that you are out like that past the fender. As mentioned above by @doublespaces a wider tire on a 10 inch rim will help. Look at the nittos they run a little wider than claimed width so a 275 might provide a little more cushion. But too much over hang will probably decrease performance. Good luck

Concrete always wins unless you're running a 70+ series sidewall...

<-- E92 AG 8.5/9.5 (et37 & 35 I think) w/ v12 245/35 & 275/30's; tires are flush w/ face. Lowered & rear fenders are rolled moderately.

I'm pretty sure e90/e91 have different offset specs than e92/e93 also.

Might actually reverse those specs with et35 in front and et37 outback and might need a small roll

This is correct. You don't have the correct size tire/wheel combo. You are either too small on your tires, or too wide on your wheels. You're stretching your tires to fit your wheels.

I ran a 19x9 ET35 with a 245/35/19 and a 19x10 ET38 with a 275/30/19 on my last e92 335i. Fit well with no fender modification and the lip wasn't bad. I was running Michelin A/S 3's though which are a little more square than other tires. The 275 I think is a better choice for the rear as it fits that size wheel perfectly.

As you can see, the tire is flush with the wheel here...
