Hey guys,
Since the interest around these turbos is growing, it was about time i'd share my experience with them so far, but first a brief intro:

My car is a 2010 E82 135i 6MT with 100,700km on the clock, and has undergone a 1M conversion.

Short mod list is:
@Hydra Performance HP800 Turbos (installed at 71 000km)
Inlets and Outlets
Phoenix 7.5 IC with 3" lower charge pipe
Stock plugs, Delphi GN10571 coils (metal shielded)
Supersprint Race 1M exhaust
VTT Single barrel
Walbro 450 LPFP
Low and High side external PCV with catch cans.

Tuned by @V8bait, running 21psi and E85. No need for more because power > traction

The list goes on but it should be enough to give context.

Long story short, i love these turbos! I had other upgraded turbos on the car before I installed these, from a popular brand i'd rather not name here, but they had ultra bad spool and failed in very short order. Then along came Omar @ Hydra Performance and convinced me to give his babies a try, despite them not being a popular or mainstream choice at the time. I bit the bullet, and here I am, almost two years later!

After much pestering from my friends, I finally bought a dragy last week. The results surprised even myself, so I figured I'd share them on SS.

Run below was done in 4th only, because no traction in 3rd....

I finally dynoed the car !

My engine is out getting the N53/HP800 treatment as we speak.

Thanks for posting a long term review!
Wow, HP800 with N53 head are a crazy combination from what i understand. Give us your review soon

Should you have started your datalog earlier or gone WOT earlier? Full spool at 3800 is almost like a single turbo no?

Glad you like them, the more options the better. The n53 head is a neat idea.

Why don't you call out the turbos that had bad spool?

Maybe i should have started wot earlier, but i don't like to lug the engine.
The point was not to show spool, it was to do a 100-200.

did you do the single barrell the same time you installed the turbos? my 650's should be here saturday or monday and was thinking about doing the single barrell since i'll have the subframe out.

That is a good question, i can't remember... Roughly at the same time probably

how was the install of the single barrell? the helix overdrive looks easier but im still up in the air on its reliability.

Not really hard, but you have to cut and reroute some cooling pipes which is why i think helix is a bit more elegant.

Awesome!

Is there any reason why the boost is declining a bit after 5700rpm?

So on my setup I reach boost target which is presently at 18psi at 2875-2900rpms. I think this is attributed due to the N53 exhaust ports and to the custom HP800 manifold section that Hydra produced.

I just looked at the logs now, look really good for relatively low timing. Your afrs look almost the same as i have mine set to around 12.3. i might have to reach out to justin to see if he will give me a hand, its been 4 or 5 years since he helped me.

damn thats good. i hope to be there with the 650's and stock n54 head. what is your peak boost set at and how much WHP you think you are running. you have a build thread?

The engine parameters are still being tweaked. If my HPFP allows me to go to 20-21psi on 91-93 octane that would be great.
Keep in mind 20-21psi on my setup is not the same as 21psi on a ported or an unported N54 head.
The combine exhaust backpressure on my setup seen in various locations inside each exhaust manifold are lower at the same given compressor boost level than on a typical ported and unported N54 head. Adding the exhaust thermal mods adds to the spool and the overall engine efficiency.
Have a look at the video below that explains allot of what I described above.

Yeah yeah we get it, you have a very good setup...

lmao, looks just like my 175k stock turbo logs...
