Which single turbo to get?

Building a sleeved engine with closed deck. Has a ported head, E85, PI, etc. Going to put a single turbo on it but not sure what I want to get. Looking for something that is in the 900hp range. I was thinking of a Precision 6466 but since this is a daily I wouldn't mind with something that is water cooled. So was thinking of something from Garrett. This is going to be with a speedtech manifold so I am not sure if it is limited to the turbos the kit is sold with or not.

I am not familiar with the single turbo lineup so if anyone can chime in with some feedback I would greatly appreciate it.

Borg Warner s372sx-e 110lb per min turbo. The turbo is not listed on Jeff website but it’ll fit. It’s a s369sx-e turbo with a larger 72mm compressor wheel.

Is that a BB turbo? I like the Precision because of the faster spool.

BB turbos don't spool faster(Boost threshold) than non BB turbos however the transient response is drastically better. However, if you are trying to hit 1000whp your going to need a bigger turbo than a 6466.

I daily my 6466 and lots of people do. I don't flog it as I enter my driveway and then shut down... but then with a turbo that big you will not have it spinning fast enough, hot enough, often enough, too worry about cooling it down before shutting down for daily driving, it won't break a sweat.

I think the transient response is what I am after then. My motor is going to be built for 1000+whp but I don't think I want to get to that point. I am XI so I have all that to worry about. The 6466 I liked because I hit full spool before I expected it to. And it is rated for 900hp which is around the area that I am looking to go to. So I was just hoping to find something in the Garrett line that is similar.

I didn't know you where XI...... yeah that changes everything you're going to be limted power wise I would just stick with 6466 then

I won't ever launch the car. And I haven't seen anyone have issues with high HP and rolling. So I am comfortable with playing around with HP until something breaks.

I think I want to go with a Garrett though. Do you recommend any that are similar to the 6466?

I'd look into the gtx3582r or 3584rs

Thats what I was thinking, but from my research and looking around It seems it might not be as good as it says it is. it is rated for 1000hp but the compressor map looks like it wouldnt.

I was browsing Real Street Performance and live chat popped up. I asked them what they recommend and they said the Precision is the fastest spooling turbo for the N54 from all the tests they did. And they recommend the 6870 for my goals.

you Pm me already but I own a Precision 6870, Comp 6767, and a Garret 3584RS with the ATP T4 housing. 6870 is on the car and pulls hard when is does spool definitely the choice if you want 900+whp. I ran a older model comp 6767 and didn't pull nearly has hard but spool was a tiny bit better from the butt dyno. Unfortunately I wasn't able to run the garret due to my manifold design, but it was the one . The chra is smaller than a precision/comp which wouldn't give me the clearance needed to run the piping for my particular manifold. The Comp 6767 and Garret are new and for sale and my car is also for sale

Yea, no. It's both spool and transient response.

I've seen if you have two turbos that are same size the boost threshold is pretty similar the only major difference being is transient response. You even see that 6266 g1 vs 6266 g2 with the g2 spooling a little bit slower because it has slightly bigger 7 blade compressor wheel instead of a 6 blade one like the g1
