I have been going to the Drag strip lately and want to know what a good Wheel and tire setup would be for my 2011 335is?
Well if I have to change my rear brakes I don't think I would since this is only a couple times a year I might be doing this. Are you wanting to go with 17s or change the rear brakes to fit 15s?
I have DAW Stage3+ turbos being built right now and will be adding more stuff in the future so this is just looking at options for the future. If you're willing to only run the tires at the strip and have a spare 2 wheels to mount them on, Mickey Thompson ET Street R's can be had in the size 285/40/18.
Don't take this the wrong way, but I looked at your mod list in the signature and you'd be fine with the nt555r or re71r and my above recommendation is overkill. I would advise against a hard launch anyway as you're likely to snap an axle with a clutch dump on the prepped surface of a drag strip.
The reason to wait is $$$ needs to replenishNo reason to wait, these will improve your times as it sits right away.
LSD will improve traction, but not like a proper dedicated tire.
I managed to get 16's to fit on the rear of my 135i, will be getting them widened and 255/50R16 Toyo TQ put on. Had to grind the caliper a tad but they have so much extra casting I don't think it'll be a problem. Got about 1.5 mm or so between the wheel and caliper now. Toyo TQ when heat cycled apparently stick like an NT05R but last like an NT555R and handle well enough in the rain aside from standing water - so i've been told.
