What gear to dyno a DCT in?

hello everyone it's good to be part of the group. So Monday I bought a 2013 335is equipped with the DCT. I have a set of VRSF downpipes, a VRSF charge pipe, HKS BOV on the way. When it all gets here I'll do an MHD stage one flash. I have a friend who owns a dyno as will dyno my car for cheap. Also I like to perform dyno runs before and after modifications to share with the group. Anyway what gear do I need to dyno in? I understand it needs to be as close to possible to a 1:1 but from what I've seen that's 7th gear since the final drive is taller in the DCT car. So I have no idea what gear to dyno in. What is the standard gear for a dyno pull with a DCT?

Thank you for the quick response. I'll post the graph when I'm done. Should I delete this thread to keep it from cluttering the forum?

No it's a good question. I don't have a dct but I've seen people say fourth. Maybe someone else can confirm.

Yep 4th gear... Altho good question as a 7 speed DCT has more narrow gear ranges... Whatever gear you use, you will need to know it's gear ratio and the final drive ratio of your differential… Higher gears are better especially for turbo cars such that the load put on the motor by the gear allows for maximum turbo Spool... That said fourth gear is not always perfect on some gearboxes 5th gear is better as it is closer to a one to one ratio. And then there is Final drive ratio and tire and wheel size to put into the calculations… As long as the Dyno operator has all of the measurements properly put in any gear third and up should be fine

I'll post the results as soon as I can. I'm trying to go tonight. I chose to go with the DCT. I like the technology and the shifting advanatge. Also I've built so many manual cars I thought this might be a refreshing change.

Yeah I got into the IS search because of DCT, but then found this 6MT, and it was like it's meant to be... It's not my daily so it works well.. Very intrigued by the DCT tho... DDd a 540i6 for 12 years so I got an auto e46 to DD.. Anyway... In for dyno results

I'm pulling up to the dyno now. It's a dynojet. Hey are you in Atlanta? The reason I ask is I'm in Birmingham Alabama and I float through Atlanta on occasion.

So the numbers were 295whp and 335 ft/lbs of torque. What website should I use to post the pics so I can attach a link of the graph?

Nice... after you get jb4, downpipe, other mods, you will need to replace plugs and coils lol...
shit I was doing coil work last night, and broke plastic parts... =(
