is anyone upgrading their bucketless or bucketed 450 to 525 for higher flow? I have a fuelit bucketless 450. Don’t want to deal with the hassle of running two pumps, Hobbs switch, and extra wiring.

If you want higher flow, I recommend installing the Precision Raceworks fuel regulator assembly on the left side of the fuel tank. Without even upgrading your stock lpfp, you will get a 15% increase in flow. If you have stage 2 lpfp or stage 3, the upgraded regulator will allow you to get closer to the flow rate that those pumps can do. Otherwise the stock fuel regulator assembly will forever be the bottle neck and you will be stuck with low flow even if you do stage 4 lpfp upgrade.

That will be my next upgrade before PI. I have stage 3 lpfp now.

I currently have only the PR Stage 2+ pump. I would be better off and gain more flow going to the stage 3 pump than doing the regulator right? The price for the regulator is double the price of the stage 3 upgrade. I'm not opposed to the wiring and hobbs switch, I just want to get the most bang for my buck, and I prefer to stay bucketed.

You will gain more flow purely based on the extra pump physically pushing more gas into your lines.

But as was mentioned, that fuel regulator on the left side will still be a hindrance and be your bottleneck forever until you replace it. The PR in-tank isn't the only option (I believe Fuel It and one other company sell a kit for a completely external FPR where you just modify your current driver-side bucket) and I've seen people do a complete DIY to free up that flow, but the PR kit will be easiest and is as close to plug-and-play as it gets.

Be careful upgrading to a 525 primary pump, as they draw a higher amperage, and you run the risk of damaging your ekp. We haven't had an opportunity to test the longevity of this yet, but it does draw a higher amperage. Upgrading your secondary pump to a 525 is good to go though!

Yep, that's exactly why I plan on running a custom setup where I can have an unbucketed 525 as my auxliary pump with my 450 staying in the bucket. Still have a few things I need to work out on the logistics of it, but they're pretty minor and I don't foresee any real issues. I'll zip-tie that sumbitch if I have to lol

The 525 pump is interesting. I have a 450 in the stock bucket and don't want to go bucketless but would like to have more flow or at least LPFP headroom in my 535i. The current draw thing would be something that would be nice to get info and solutions on.

I have a stage 2 pump and another 450 zip tied outside that bucket connected to a hydramat. Takes a bit of fiddling to get in the tank but works.
I ran just the bucketless one for 9 months to check it worked. All went well. Got a Hobbs and relay to trigger pump 2 now.
