Hey guys I'm in need of your help again unfortunately. Tonight when I was running a GTI my car when I got into 6th had weird rpm spikes and whatnot and the car was acting very odd and the power just wasn't there at all. Then, I take my friend for a pull who's more knowledgeable and he says instantly it's the transmission slipping. The car starts jerking slightly, also when I sometimes try to shift 2nd into 3rd WOT the car sometimes just ignores the shift and it just sits at 7 grand, hit 7.2 grand which spooked me too. My car is FBO E60 MHD Tune it also has the XHP Stage 3 Tranny flash (which is apparently supposed to help lol) and also another weird thing is when I'm leaving my driveway, I "shift" and it says I'm in second, but it stays at the RPM of 1st gear (it's very obvious contrast) and that's weird too.

Any help is appreciated.

Transmissions certainly can go bad, how many miles on the car, how much abuse has it seen?

low mileage, but it sounds like a slipping tranny to me. Put back to stock and sell it and buy a manual.

Racing every friday is plenty enough to wear the transmission out if that has been done for long enough. if you insist on staying with an auto you can check out the PD clutches, they are sold by themselves now.

You can also just buy a used transmission on eBay for under $1000.
Something that helped me squeeze more miles out of myn once it started slipping 3-4 was switching to AMSoil full synthetic atf I don't think it liked the red line fluid i was using.

I look into that, seems like a decent choice.

I will have an a/t trans for sale in about a week once it is out of the car if you go that route. It has 30k miles on it and in perfect condition.

Quick Update: Hey guys, just wanted to update everyone who was curious. I assume the issue is "fixed". The two guys I ran said that it could be an issue with the tune (tcu). So, I reflashed XHP Stage 3 and I guess with the new 1.7 update the issues went away. Full mash 40-150, car didn't have a hiccup at ~140 like it was before. (knock on wood). Thanks for all the help guys!
