Running MHD stage 2+ e30 tune. Tires lose traction with the dct on, all the way through 3rd gear.

Right now I'm running nitto tires front and rear. F 245/40/18, R 275/35/18

Discount Tire suggested I run Michelin pilot power 3+ AS. With F 255/40/18 and R 285/35/18.

Michelin pilot power 3+ AS are tires for a bike. Never take advice from a tire 'shop' ;)

It all depends on what you want. Do you want a summer tire? A tire you can't drive in the rain and need to warm up? An All Season?

I would hazard to guess the Michelin PILOT SPORT 4S is what will fit you best: https://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires.jsp?tireMake=Michelin&tireModel=Pilot+Sport+4S

Oops, typo.....I meant sport. I always run pilot powers on my zx10r for track days.

I compared the specs and reviews of the 4s to the 3s. Think I'll do the 3s. Better wet driving it seems. Roads are always slick with morning dew here and lots of rain.

Could always try Yoko Advan Neova AD08R. I hear they have excellent wet traction for a 200tw tire.

i have ps4s 275s in the back and they are solid in the rain but it will spin all through 2nd and half of 3rd gear on a e50 custom tune, stock turbos. You need a proper tire if you want it to hook up in 2nd. I have Mickey Thompson Street S/S 275/40/17 and those babies hook in 2nd without needing to warm them up.

Thanks for the info. :) Well if anything then, I'll get a better rain tire under "normal driving".

A taller sidewall in the rear will provide more straight-line traction. On e60 tune making 500wtq stock turbos, I had mild rear 255/40/17 hankook ventus tires and didn't have your spinning issue. My r888r were complete overkill (dead hook in first and lost an axle) and sketchy in any rain scenario. I ran federal 595rsrr and had pretty good traction at 600whp.

Other options:
coilovers
m3 rear control, trailing, and tension arms (not sure if you'd need m5 stuff if you have an e60)
LSD and diff brace
rear subframe bushings

Well, just had the pilot sports put on. No more spinny and slippy slidey. Much nicer ride. Feels just a hair squishy.... not sure how to describe it. Overall very nice.

Now to save back up for getting her all one color again.
