Okay I’m in the market my turbos are leaking oil and i dont know if I want a top mount single.. or if I want to stage 2 turbos. But if I decide to go either route I’d like to know which ones are the best quality for the amount of money spent.. tbh I’m not tryna for like 8k at doc racing lol but I’d be perfectly content with like under 4-5k

Bottom mount is the route I plan to take. Most people utilize precision turbos. But I’ve also seen BW EFR/SX-e, Garret and others.. really it’s up to you and your budget. There are some really great write ups on this forum. Look around and you’ll find budgets and builds of all kinds!

I've really been on a short runner log manifold bottom mount craze lately. If I did it again, I'd do a bottom mount log manifold with a twin scroll turbo and water lines. People do not need 800whp+ for daily driving or even most racing and anyone exceeding that threshold is making a purpose built car in my opinion. 3.0L engines just don't retain the daily driving aspect when making big power. You can argue that upgraded twins can meet these needs but I'd like to see more third party reports of 800+ before I agree with that.

The other thing I've been high on is a true big twin option, like the VTT Stage 3 or the CPE Atmosphere kit, but both of those are out of your price range.

If you're like 90% of the people who do a single turbo and plan to actually drive the car, or don't have e85 access, or don't plan on taking the car to 700+whp, the 5862 gen2 and 6062 gen 2 turbos are amazing turbos, and can easilly hit 625whp-700whp if pushed.

I am a pretty big advocate of the smaller turbo club. I have a 6266, and honestly I don't think I'd ever need more than 750 unless I had a spare block being built on an engine stand and a new transmission to swap in. Thats why the EFR 8374 has had my attention.

Yeah I think the 6062 is rated for like 750? But I don’t plan to do more than 650-700. Goal would be to have a pretty good reacting/spooling single turbo that can put out decent numbers. I think the 6062 is the route that I’m going to do. Thanks for the response!

If i had to do it all over again with my girls doc race kit i would have stayed 6062 or smaller. Unless you plan on building the motor and trans if you have an auto

So I really wanted top mount at this point I just want to make a statement and really drive the car what are your guys thoughts? I can get the money that not an issue but I don’t want to dump a shit ton into it. Either way my turbos are leaking so either way I’m buying something but what do you guys think in size? 6062?

What are your goals? Do you want to build a motor and transmission? There are some great top mount kits, it just depends on what you’re looking to do.

My gen 1 5862 (slower spooling then the newer gen 2's) hits full boost at about 3400-3600 rpms at 5300 ft elevation (If you haven't driven a big turbo car at sea level, then high elevation, you have no clue the difference it makes in spool). I drive around on 91 octane at about 500rwhp (very conservative on 91). my E40 map probably makes closer to 575ish-600 depending where I'm at.

the Gen 2 6062 has my eye for this winter. If I can lock in some solid E access, or affordable race gas, I'll probably do it.
