Took the car for a spin/cruise this evening, wow the power delivery is just so different. 😍

I got to say the s65 was meant for this car.

The Akra is whisper quiet and you can hear the engine sing, open the exhaust and its like The 300 on a warpath.

Now I know why most m3 owners love their cars now imagine it tuned and 400kg less weight.

Still have to iron out a few rattling components and put the interior back together and some coding to enable all the m3
CIC functionalities

Cant wait to take it to the track.

So the exhaust was finished up this weekend and man does this car sound evil.

When the valve is closed it sound like a v10 on steroids and when open just sounds
like a nasty v8 that can be heard 2 suburbs away not exaggerating.

Had some minor coding bug in the reverse lights my mate had to modify but looks like everything is sorted.

We will refill the aircon this week and test make sure its working and see if it needs any tweaking.

Once we do that the car's interior is going back together getting it ready for a full detail and photo/video shoot.

Without www.jplautoparts.com.au this job would just not happen, Tom is just on another level by himself with electronics and coding.

The car just drives silky smooth, I thought and many others my n54 was crazy nice but the s65 😍 .

Got to try a 4000rpm launch for the first time which left me with the biggest grin you could not wipe off 😁.

This car is just nasty fast but how fast we yet to find out, possibly this week before going to detailing.

The setup sounds like a hoot Marty good on you.
Tom knows his stuff for sure. In a couple of threads here he helped the community(and me) so much and he didnt have to. Hes a good guy.
For those that dont know ... this is Tom from Brintech Sydney. The guys that have done similar outstanding OEM retrofits and conversions in the past including MANY worlds firsts.

The 1m was a real challenge for Tom but he done it, the 1m is very different and a custom made harness, extra circuits and custom coding to make everything work, the guy is a bloody genius no doubt about it.

There is easily 150hrs to do a swap like this and lots of fiddly bits that just soak up the time.

This is fantastic, hoping to see you upload a Video clip to show off the sound.

It probably very expensive and time consuming option, but whats the possibility that this Tom gent would make a harness for S65 retrofits into 1M? i highly doubt it will be an item flying off the shelves in bulk im sure, but for the odd client, im sure it would be cool to ahve a few harnesses available as a "plug and play" solution in terms of electrics?

There is just no way to have one suits all, there are different revisions and pinouts between the build dates and depending on options.

Then there is the coding, what a nightmare.

Most have no idea how much work has gone into this build, the mechanical is the easiest part of all.

Finally finished everything tonight, all interior trim is back in and cleaning and polishing day tomorrow.

The only thing I need to get because my OCD is kicking in is the metal undertray, mine was mangled on the donor car.

I can well appreciate the intricacies involved in this build, definately a one off then, makes it much more exclusive. i love it.
Well like i say, cant wait for the video.

My colleague has a ESS Supercharged E92 M3 LCI. car runs super well, i drove it a bit in the parking lot moving it about, and it was pleasure to be in, i would love an M3, dont care if the 335i is faster or whatever, the M3 is just a special type of drive. and like you say, in a body thats 400kg lighter, im sure thats a proper weapon.

When you say the V8 is tuned, what mods has it got? or is it just software?

It has a custom engine tune, custom exhaust and the gts gearbox software.

Waiting on the air filter to increase the engine growl a bit.

Yes the n54 motor was more powerful but the v8 feels faster as it puts all the power down,.

The supercharger is going to put the car in a league of its own as I never seen a real 1m with a supercharged s65.

This has been my dream from the get go.

Speaking with the engineer yesterday and car just has to pass some noise tests, a weigh bridge certificate for each axle and its good to go.

New engine subframe brace arrives today and some rubber buffers for the airbox and she is completely finished.

Our hard work has paid off thanks to JPL Auto parts for helping us build this little monster.

It's the way BMW should have done these cars, to tell you the truth I'm glad they didn't as it makes this weapon exclusive and the first s65 DCT powered genuine 1m in the world.

Clones are great but not the same, the electronics are different and more advanced/reliable than earlier models.

Nothing has been coded out, it all functions as the factory intended in the m3 plus more and we reverted the engine tune to stock temporarily so we can pass all emission tests but I think I'll leave it that way till we fit the supercharger.

The supercharger can easily be fitted but poses some hurdles by our authorities and has to pass extra tests so we will leave that till next year as I know it will be a small nightmare to do things the legal way but that's what this project is all about.

Most likely the harrop if it can pass the drive by noise test, we are trying to build a totally legal street monster, it doesn't have to break any records but it has to be totally safe and quiet that my 80 year old mother could drive if I wanted.

The Akrapovic exhaust is awesome because I have have it whisper quiet and when I flick the switch its a grumpy noisy v8.

We got our baseline for the mph at the track last night, traction was non existent and everybody was complaining their cars where at minimum 2 sec slower than normal.

What a waste of money going there, these A-holes could not run a track if their lives depended on it.

Forget using launch control as it could not hook up 1st 2nd and half way through 3rd.

What’s your reasoning behind the harrop? Being Australian built and having a nice bit of low down torque compared to the centrifugal kits out there?

I love the sound of the Harrop it just sounds like a mad cat fight under the bonnet, the whine is just evil.

Usable power is far beneficial over outright power and that's where the harrop shines

When you open the bonnet the harrop just looks right at home not like a strapped on hair-dryer.

Being Australian built makes it easy with technical and warranty support.

I also found the harrop offers the best clearance under the bonnet so a hump is not needed

This is one of the most godly BMW builds of all time. Please put the 6 speed in. This thread feels like forbidden knowledge. 👍

Honestly believe this will go down as one of the most legendary BMW swaps.

I have been playing with exhaust combinations since Sunday, the Akra was great but a little raspy.

I installed the factory 1m rear muffler and its 10x better on the v8, the Akra is far better on the N54.

Now we are playing with the mid section to tune out some cabin resonance.

A real 1m s65 manual swap was already done, it will be done eventually but for now I want to play
with the DCT until I get bored of it.

A friend has been telling me about someone building a 6 vane positive displacement supercharger
which sounds like its going to be something very special, time will tell.

Going to order the Harrop in the new year just waiting on the paperwork to get finished up to make
this all legal here in OZ.

Would be interested in details on that PD blower... For whatever reason they're not as popular here in the US but I'd love to put one on my E46 M3.
