Standalone MHD VS W/ JB4?

There is MHD and there is jb4. Then there is jb4 with a backend flash via MHD. A backend flash without jb4 is not going to be what you want and is probably what he's talking about. But that sounds like he's not fully aware of what MHD does.

If you already have a JB4, then yes use the mad backend flash. As far as choosing one for a tune that's a whole topic beaten down over and over. But you can't go wrong with any one you pick, or even stacking them.

Pretty much. He said JB4 with the backend flash and that MHD standalone is as pointless as cobb pretty much.

Depends what you're looking to do. The JB4 doesn't cost much more and provides a ton of tuning flexability and mapping, and great support.

Not sure what your buddy could mean by pointless. MHD has much more flash only users (either MHD off the shelves maps, or custom map) than MHD flashed BMS maps + JB4. Maybe read the 400+ reviews on Google Play store?

I currently have a procede on my 535xi and my biggest gripe about piggyback is the need for a laptop.

Wow I didn't know there were many procedes still out there. Kudos for making it this far.

I'm a laptop guy but JB4 also offers fully wireless bluetooth to your phone as an option.

I'll just say this....

MHD Flash calibration whether custom or OTS, does NOT need a JB4 to perform properly and consistently.

However, a JB4 does indeed need a BEF to function as good as a stand alone flash

There are certain situations where having the JB4 can help. Like with PI. But it's still not a Need. People who already have JB4. Can just keep it and use the BMS BEF or a custom BEF.

There is no better control for these cars right now than the Factory DME. Period! But other things can be used.

The car is moving so fast the cluster thinks it's standing still...

Video is from our M3 on the dyno, in dyno mode sometimes the speedo disables itself in dash.

Tell your buddy to do some proper research on how it all works and keep learning. Also don't take any further technical advice from your buddy.

for sure man! I figured MHD alone would be sufficient for what I'm doing.

Switched from stacked to mhd only a long time ago... Much better, not to mention the mhd logger is superior

Never ending conflict. Most people dont understand it all but yet the like to comment bullshit. I use jb4 and flash with mhd. I still custom tune myself, use jb4 for boost and pi control which is great.

And there's definitely nothing wrong with that. Its all preference unless you're trying to do certain things a certain way
