Personally I think twins sound too raspy and not deep enough. The overall tone isn't very good IMO, I prefer the N55 exhaust sounds. I'm having a 3.5" downpipe made and am planning on splitting into dual 3" just before the differential.

I know other people have done this, but does anyone on here have a video where they had a 3.5" downpipe made and split into dual 3" in the back? I'm trying to determine the difference in sound from splitting before the differential instead of after.

What did you decide to do with your exhaust?

I have a top mount single turbo with a 3” downpipe mated to a vrsf 3.5” catback. In honestly sounds amazing, doesn’t sound real lound idling or just putting around but once you go wot it sounds really good... especially when the gate dumps open.
Edit, i can’t figure out how to add a video, it keeps saying “The uploaded file does not have an allowed extension.”

I don't have any video of my exhaust, but it sounds nice and deep and throaty. 3" from turbo on a motiv 700 kit to an AE quad tip rear section. Only thing I want to change in the future is to add a high flow cat to pull the volume down some for non wot conditions.

3.5" all the way to magnaflow resonator and then split to stock mufflers. Sounds really deep and beast. Also have a cutout midway for race events. Makes the car sound like a jet. I will make a build thread soon, this damn injector coding has been holding me back for a while now.

That sounds exactly how I want it but with dual mode mufflers instead of the stock ones. Where do you split for the stock mufflers and what diameter piping is it?

I don't allow uploading of videos mostly for bandwidth and storage reasons, video media really eats that up and I'm trying to keep the site as light as possible. Can you throw it up on youtube or google drive?

My plan for the 6466 exhaust is 3” at the turbo tapering to a 3.5” and 3.5” all the way back with a resonator in the driveshaft tunnel and a single muffler and 4” tip. E82 so single exit anyway.

long long time ago when i was on racing here, little after stone age we calculated ideal size for exhaust to be some 14 mm2/whp on racing and 12mm2 for street usage and based on that calc 2x3" is suitable for (inner area) is perfect for 600 whp racing/ 700 whp street usage.
1x3.5" is on those calculations flows on racing use perfect to a 415 whp and on street usage to 485whp.
that race is for minimal restriction and street is for maximum acceptable noise level. if wanted to keep
noise levels to civilized level, maybe 10mm2/whp could be ideal but everyone has their own
value of acceptable noise levels so....

based on those that supra 3"-->3,5"could for sure have benefits to move on to that 3.5".

I wonder if that comparison is only valid because it's 3" single vs 3.5" single. The stock exhaust on the 335 is dual 60mm isn't it? I thought there would definitely be gains going to a single 3.5, but on a different forum (I think, can't recall) I was blasted and told that everyone had already done it and there's no gains to be had, and to GTFO. Then again, everyone said there was no gains in inlets before they became readily available, so....

inner area of 2x 60mm is some 5100mm2, 1x3" 4200mm2 and 1x 3.5" some 5600mm2. 2x3" has inner area on some 8400mm2

Yep I'm doing it largely for the sound. Also, larger doesn't hurt when you're pushing last 700. So again does anyone have a video?

Exhaust is all about personal preference with a single turbo. Unless of course skull numbing drone or fart canning down the street are nothing in your pursuit of POWAHH. If you need more power just turn up the boost, if you're at boost limit get a bigger turbo before running an exhaust that's unbearable for more than 5 min at a time.

I've probably gone thru more exhaust set ups than I care to remember. I stopped counting after 10. If I knew how to capture the audio under load I would share my current setup. You have to keep that in mind when you watch a video of an exhaust set up revving. That doesn't tell you much as it matters what the car sounds like under load both in the cabin and outside the cabin.
Current set up: Open screamer pipes, dual 2.5" pipes, to dual bottle resonators, to dual 200 cell hf mid cats, X pipe, to dual ultra quiet resonators in muffler position.

So how much power I'm robbing my ST setup by staying OEM exhaust?
Really like the stealthy look.
