Should I replace my old EKPM3 module with a new one?

People that have had this prob and swap in new stage 2 still have low pressure so pretty sure it not the venturi. I feel like the regulator filter assembly has to play a role .

My 2008 335xi E90 came with an EKPM3 module. In the last year or so my LPFP pressures no longer stay at 72psi when cruising or idling. Instead pressures drift down into the 60s, and then into the 50s, and then into the 40s as I drove along and the engine heats up. The engine otherwise feels fine.
I have a Fuel-It Stage 2 Walbro 450 LPFP installed for the last 3-4 years.

Based on what I’ve read this problem typically occurs with thre older EKPM2 modules and the solution is to upgrade to an EKPM3 module. But I already have the EKPM3, so I’m wondering whether anybody has solved the LPFP pressure problem by replacing an old EKPM3 module with a new one?

Thanks.

I am having the exact same problem my friend! I am running a stage 3 fuel it with a hobb switch. But lpfp is taking a shit on my logs but I haven’t even put 500 miles on the build yet. So that being said we know it’s not the fuel pump and probably EKP

I wonder how many of the pumps are counterfeit. I am pretty sure I ordered mine from Amazon and while it is still running great, I fear it will fail soon. I just ordered a new one from BMP and will be running the amazon pump on the hobbs.

If your going to upgrade from an ekp2 you might as well go to a bpm4 and not waste your time.

A second hand ekp3 still cost big money for not much of an upgrade, really not worth the effort.

I will say the two units EKPM2 and M3 are very different internally. I have several on the bench right now. EKPM3's are $30 shipped in the USA.

They might be very different inside but they don't offer that much extra headroom and they still fail compared to a bpm4.

For those that cant code and have to use a mechanic its a waste of time/money and who's to say its going to work or the used unit is not stuffed too.

Do it once, do it right and forget about it.

I'm not arguing decision making - I expect grown adults can do that, without me telling them how to build their cars. I'm just stating facts.

Prior to covid-19 I could not get a ekp3 under 200 aud landed, today Im looking at 50 dollars shipped looking on ebay.

But I still would waste my time and money on a ekp3 if upgrading from a ekp2.

I was replacing a EKPM2 with a EKPM3 from ebay $50 shipped prior to covid. At that time of looking there was a dime a dozen. I was def doing a hard pass on the BPM4 first starting at $650. I would rather do a new unit from FCP at less than half that price first but the ebay route is doing just fine atm with a Walbro F90000295.

Edit - did not realize you were looking at AUD prices. I know here they are cheap to come by. Although these are a 5min swap in a out along with Coding.

I personally run a 535 of the ekp3 and it has no issue but if I jumped the gun and got a 525 it would have been
an issue like on a customers 135 which I'm rectifying someone else's work.

That thing was ready to catch fire and the casing is so hot its crazy and stalling as the ekp3 would overheat.

Installed the bpm4 and no issue since.

I know the bpm4 is not for everyone but definitely worth the dollars.

Only reason I went and got an ekp3 is I'm in the middle of buying a house and I don't want to be making any large purchases until afterwards. For $32 off eBay it's worth getting rid of the ekp2
