Separating the door speaker channels - nope

So for those of you ever thinking about running a seperate speaker line into the door to separate the speaker channels (tweeters/mids) - don't. Sometimes I love the German engineering, sometimes.....

The Germans decided (likely to aid in assembly) that the door cabling should both bolt to the car shell (not an issue) and attach with a plug (issue). I thought about it for about an hour, and really could not determine a clean way to get a speaker cable though without attempting to repin (and that was NOT going to happen just for this) There may be someone out there who is up for the challenge, and please post if you have, but that's just not me for this endeavor.

Why do I always try to do these things in the hottest part of the year?

Is the Z4 setup different than 3 series? I changed my sound system to run components in my 335is.

I am using the BMW plugs and using a 2 way Morel component setup. The speakers previously split high from mids.

Is this where you are having problems?

Had to change out the Morel mids to the Carbons for depth reasons...

I even used the BMW plugs for under seats:

Nope - it's where the wiring harness from the door connects to the main chassis - by the door hinge. I"m trying to have the tweeter and mid run back to the amp separately so I can use the active crossover in the amp, thus requiring a separate (additional) speaker cable

Oh, nice! Active crossover/DSP is where I would love to be with my car.

That harness/plug sucks, yes. I had to swap my door harness out when I put in a comfort access harness... I remember it being tight. Not sure how else you could achieve your goal? Might want to consider passive front stage?

I used a Technic harness in my car which gives a breakout to the speakers from the amp (in OEM location), using the BMW harness so no wires were run in my car...

E89 Z4 Top Hifi (optical): http://technicpnp.com/product-category/z4-e89/top-hifi-option-677-z4-e89/

Would either of those harnesses work?

I've got passive now, was just looking to "upgrade" - but somewhat easily. It's a convertible - I'm realistic and have other things I can do to waste my time/money...

True. It all depends on the OEM setup you have.

HIFI, what my car has, is limited to a pair of wires going into the doors and then split by the tweeter I believe (which I replace with a 2 way component setup).
Top HIFI, optical/HK, seems to have individual wires for the tweeter/mid.

If you have Hifi like I have... stick with passive unless you want to run wires. Thankfully it is balanced signal (kudos to BMW for that).

I went with https://www.audison.eu/products/apbmw-k4e/ in my i3 and the setup came with a tiny crossover and BMW plugs for a plug&play install. Wish I had done this for the 335is :D

Waste your time? What are you talking about, man?

Did you look at the pin out in the ETK and convince yourself that every pin is currently in use?
