Trying to decide to put cams in the car or not since everything else is built. I have read mixed reviews on them. Some people say they only add around 15hp. I read that Tony said they were the best bang for buck after turbos.

Anyone have any info?

Ha I think I got my answer. For my goal of around 800 my head and turbo will be good and the stock cams won't be an issue. If I were to throw a bigger turbo on it, then I would be looking at adding cams.

Given the pretty restrictive N54 head design, which was created for emissions efficiency and NA-like behavior with 300hp, I've never understood why porting wasn't far more common. It seems people run lots of boost as the way to deal with this, along with all the things that come with lots of boost. Porting a head is not cheap. But all the heat generated otherwise, costs a lot in the long run! Just my 02 cents.

Porting is a great idea. Cams are a great idea. After you replace turbos and have strengthened the motor, there really isn't much reason not to, particularly if you want to make some big power. I will probably stick a cam on my stock motor personal car, easy gains that you aren't going to get anywhere else.
