RB silicone outlet failure

Replacing a customers outlets today after multiple shops could not find the fault as it's in a place where it cant be seen.

Brand new turbos kaboom to the parts bin in the sky.

Please only run metal ones and save your self a ton of money, they are just not worth it.

What happened to the turbo if this was the outlet?

Are they super thin walled or something? Or heat damage over time.

I've heard of MANY people blowing all sorts of silicone turbo outlets. EVERY brand. I blew a set myself. First time I've heard of this causing the turbos to fail. What happened to the turbos - overspun?

Yeah the guys turbos maxed out their duty cycle and shit themselves, not even 1000km old

I'm glad I didn't install these and picking up the bill for it and wont install silicone outlets for that matter,
just not worth the headache.

Ouch that sucks. I really don't get why vendors sell and people buy a part made of silicon that sits beside the hottest part of your engine.

Agree. After mine blew, we decided the new turbos were getting a proper solution. I bought PSP and was dissatisfied with those, so we just jigged up and made our own out of stainless. I would have been really happy if my turbo outlets took v-band clamps. But short run HPS with constant tension murray clamps should be plenty reliable, installed with care.

There is no solution for rhd hose style outlets except silicone as there is just no room for it.

The only way forward is switching to vband and the rhd vtt outlets.

You guys are lucky with lhd so much more room to play with, It would be so much easier on the fabrication side without rhd constraints

HPS is definitely the way to go.

That picture looks fully like it melted from contact, i.e. bad install. Any silicone outlet that's touching the manifold will burn like that. I've seen the MMPs shear at the seam before which I consider a manufacturing defect, but this is not.
