PLM Downpipes Review 2019

Couldn’t pass up the 1 day sale on these considering the price I paid (167$) their usualy 250$!

I scrambled my pc an researched for aprox 3 hours before I paid , turns out not a whole lot of new info, one old sound clip on a e92.

2-3 threads with a few people saying they DID fit, The others pissed that they didn’t say vrsf on them and too ugly when they came out back in 2010, they were also advertised for like 400$+ I believe.

Yes i’m well aware one of the DP has a “dent” which is part of the design similar to AR downpipes. (Xi Version)

Overall Looks
Pretty solid welds!
Nothing that screams “cheap china junk”
Decently dense metal

I blew compressed air through both and couldn’t tell a difference obviously not very scientific but best I can do with what I have, these were a in the moment purchase.

I really don’t care about the looks or if flow isn’t better than other DP.
The rear flange does taper down like all downpipes do, however these are advertised for 2.60 taper usually other DP are 2.50 from what PLM claims, I look forward to getting a better measurement done soon.

Hopefully the band clamp fits. I had a hell of a time getting even the stock ones to go back on the rear turbo, since its close to the block.

No xs power, using stock clamps. The clamps you have seem to be overall larger in diameter. Hopefully they fit.

Lol then don’t buy them if you didn’t catch on to the title this is a PLM thread not a Wagner thread, hardly anyone runs Wagner dp because they’re overpriced pieces of tubing.

Pipe is a pipe guarantee there will be no power difference

What sets them apart is fitment and nothing else

I only use ar design, the best bar none for the latter

Pipe is pipe, bit diameter and design is important also. Few years ago, someone did test, and there was differences. +- 15whp if I remember correctly.

Btw. For that price, these are great.

These are 3 in and neck down to 2.60 at the end exhaust flange, the one DP with the dent isn’t exactly 3in internally i’m assuming though..

The Price was great, I’m going single turbo shortly that’s why I haven’t had the urge to buy downpipes in general but specifically 300$+ DP , just to sell them in a year..this is more of a experience/experiment type of thing.

And also I can probably get more money back ratio out of these than vrsf selling used.
