TOP POST ON PG. 2 HAS THE FULL TIMELINE.

New alternator, old one shorted due to some random peice of very small metal. Had no voltage, installed New alternator now have voltage no throttle.

6466 doc race kit, with intake manifold.
Ohm tested all wiring going to throttle body, Everything goes to where it should and no breaks.

New throttle body
New battery
New alternator

all fuses have been checked for the engine and replaced in the passenger footwell

cleaned all ground straps.

Took apart jb4 and dme to check for bent pins Everything looks fine, nothing that stands out.

I'm stuck the car just has no throttle input at all, idles at like 600 rpm

Car has jb4 with MHD backend. All the most recent firmwares, have been flashed. Also has 2 step relay/nls , Jb4 Port injection controller, and a Hobbs running to the 2 450 pumps,

I've heard of the blue relay on the back of the fuse board going bad. Could this be a symptom of that relay?

Thanks a lot for the help it is very much appreciated.

I reset all adaptations, with the BMW procedure, holding the pedal. And with MHD and JB4, I have no throttle.

Is the throttle body new or used? Because it really looks like a bad throttle body.

Edit: Nice engine bay! What is the purpose of blocking off the air ducts in the front?

Thanks its been years building this thing, had it since 2014. The plates are there to force all the air thru the radiator, not sure if it helps, i wanted to see if it helped coolant/ oil Temps a little.

Car is a 2008 335i e92 with a msd81 Dme.

When you say new throttlebody, was that new before the issue started, or you replaced it trouble-shooting? If it was new before the issue, maybe something got physically jammed in the throttle plate during installation so it can't move? Looks like you have pretty good access to check with that nice looking intake manifold.

So I had the issue with no throttle, I thought I broke the throttle body installing into the forward facing manifold, purchased a new one and installed. Very carefully and with new charge pipe setup, everything installed like butter. Fired the car up no throttle still. Check voltage, running only on battery. Find peice of metal lodged in alternator in between wire and case, alternator shorted out. Buy new alternator, installed and still no throttle.

It must have shorted something that controls the throttle, and I'm assuming I have 2 good throttle bodies.

Ista can be a little tricky to setup the first time. Make sure you have the right Comm port set in the ista notepad to the comm port your computer is using or make the computer use the comm port ista is asking for.
Hope that makes sense.

Damn I love the look of those Doc manifolds. I’m sure you’ve checked the harness 100x by now but is it possible wires got mixed up when extending? Worth a redo? Are you seeing Accel pedal position change normally in the logger? Do the codes only come back after pedal input? Or immediately. Running and not. Is this also the first time running since msd81 swap? Try removing jb4 completely? Not that it should matter but check your kickdown switch behind the pedal also I had one stick on me before with dirt/grit. Even better would be to flash with check box to disable it.

Sucks to come that far and have some stupid issue like this hold you up but you will figure it out I’m sure.

Where is your old msd80? try connecting it and see what will happen. Either your ecu is toasted or you have broken wire somewhere or your gas pedal is dead )))

Those are some great tips. If you could get the signal from the pedal so see if it is sending the signal that could help.

So I wasnt able to work on car much yesterday,

Original MSD81, I just mentioned it because I know msd80s Have issues, but I did pull the ECU to check all the pins last week, and make sure the jb4 was wired correctly.

I checked my wiring to the throttle body. I probed before my splice, with my other probe in the female connector for the throttlebody and everything checks out. I think its 6 wires, they all had continuity. Has anybody had issues with forward facing manifolds and extending wiring? Does the extended wiring create different resistance in the line, and does that resistance have an effect on throttle input?

Accelerator pedal logging. I have not checked that yet. I am going to do that today, thank you.
Thats definitely something I should have looked at.

Original msd81, so unfortunately I don't have a spare to swap.

Thanks again for all the advice. I'm slow. But I'm going to get ista downloaded.

Okay. So I can log via MHD or JB4, but I would like more, I am going to admit I have never had to use ISTA, I am severely lacking in the diagnostic dept. And I gotta fix that.

I've looked up all the ista stuff on bimmerfest and I looks like I just have to PM a guy for the ista download.

Past that, I have a D-can cable. A laptop with 4gb of ram and a 2tb external hard drive.
