N55 UPGRADED CAMS

Hi all.....was wondering, since the N55 and S55 camshafts are the same part (same part numbers) can anyone confirm if the newly released SHRICK S55 camshaft set sold by VAC fit the N55 also?

Why not call Vac and ask them. They would know if anyone would.

I think if they knew they would have listed them as N55/S55 cams.

Yes, the entire cylinder head is the same.

I sent them , VAC, an email , hope they respond.

I have emailed VAC asking the same towards the end of last year, but did not get a response. I sent chaser about 6 weeks later, still nothing. Hopefully you have better luck!

I emailed Schrick directly and did get a response, but they could only point me back to VAC. This was their response:

no, we did not tested this.
The S55 cams was designed and manufactured exclusive for VAC, I don't know if they had tested it.
Maybe you can contact VAC with questions about the S55 cams.

The S55 has different exhaust valve springs to the N55 and the valves themselves are made of a different material (sodium filled?) but I believe they are the same size.

I imagine the Schricks will be fine to drop in on an N55 though anyway, just make sure your tuner can accommodate for them. I’ve stopped pursuing the S55 Schricks for now, but am still curious!

For what it's worth, here's some info on n55 valve sizes, and confirmation the n55 exhaust valves are sodium filled

Thanks @wheela! I should’ve cross referenced the N55 doc’ instead of just looking at the S55 one! Good to know the N55 helps with my sodium intake (exhaust).

There is a material change for whatever reason though.
