When has everyone change the sparkplugs on your N55? I'm around 42000 now miles and wonder if I need to do swap them out soon.

BMW recommends 60k. I don't think you'd have a problem getting 40k out of a set with a tuned stock turbo. I replaced mine at 20k and they look like new. Gap hadn't even changed much if at all...

I change mine every 30K or so with NGK 97506. 1 step colder on the N55. Gap = 0.020" as I generally run pump fuel and meth PI. 0.018" if I run high concentrations of E85. FBO e90 N55, Pure S2, Meth PI.

97506 is the standard n20 plug and it is only 1 step colder for n55.

2 steps colder:
NGK SILZKBR9F8S (BMW# 12120042724).

I changed mine ~2k miles ago with new coil packs, and I'm MHD stage 2 tuned. I'd change mine every 30k or about 2 years to be safe and preventive. I got the BOSCH and Delphi from FCP Euro.

Using ground walnut shells to penetrate the cylinders, moving carbon gunk. Walnut blasting is to clean the carbon build up in each cylinder after GOOD amount of mileage, usually 50k+ for direct injection engines.

SO, does an oil catch tank help reduce this?

Actually it does help slow down the build up, especially on n54 engine. Some said not so much on n55. I installed one ~2 months ago, I haven't been putting lots of mileage on my car (roughly~2k miles), I'll check this weekend to see if anything. lol

Think I will install one on my N55 and see. Can't hurt, right?

It won't hurt, but all the n55 catch cans suck. I've had both bms and sushimoto. Bms can never caught anything. Mishimoto can catches a bit, but could use some design improvements so it actually slows air down enough for oil to collect in the can. I run mine in reverse and that seems to work best. If I run the can the way it was designed I don't catch anything.
